About this property

Treaster's Cabin *Paddleboat/Great Fishing* ( No fishing license required.)

Sullivan County, PA. Pondside Cabin Rental

This is a super vacation deal for a cabin in the Endless Mountains region of N.E. Pennsylvania. This cabin and the pond that it is located next to are privately owned and located in beautiful Sullivan County. Sullivan County is one of the last true rural areas in Pennsylvania. This county is a step back in time, where small country stores can still be found and time goes by a whole lot slower than elsewhere. To give you an example of how laid back this area is, we still have only one stop light in the entire county. Harder yet to believe, we are only about four hours from N.Y.C. and the Philadelphia area, making it a quick and affordable getaway.

This cabin is privately owned and is located overlooking a seven acre, horseshoe-shaped pond that is heavily stocked with various species of fish. The catfish literally boil and splash to feed in the evenings. It is entertaining in itself to watch them. Our guests enjoy super catch and release fishing, and often hook on to lunker trophy bass and giant catfish.

The cabin was newly constructed in 2006 and has two bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen-size bed, the other contains a full-size bed with a bunk overtop. The living area has a full-size futon and full-size sofa sleeper as well. The kitchen is modern and is equipped with all the necessities. The bathroom is also modern and contains an over-sized shower with new modern flooring. The cabin has electric heat, A.C., dish television, verizon cell phone service, and a small electric wood like stove to enjoy. A covered back porch overlooks the pond. Along side the pond there is a fire pit and outdoor lawn furniture. Property has a large charcoal grill for guest use.

We ask guests to bring their own linens and towels during their stay.

If you enjoy trout fishing and cold mountain streams, they are numerous in this area. Sullivan County is blessed to have some of the most beautiful streams in Pennsylvania, such as the Big Loyalsock Creek and the Little Loyalsock Creek, plus many other smaller streams. Many of them have hiking trails running along sections of them. This cabin is located just minutes from the Loyalsock trail (a reknowned hiking trail), and World's End State Park. Rickett's Glen State Park, is also located in Sullivan County. It has numerous waterfalls to observe and hike along.

Our visitors simply fall in love with this area and we think you'll love it too. Many of our guests say that this is the nicest place that they have ever stayed. We invite you to come and see for yourself!

Perfectly situated cabin on the water
We enjoyed the cabin for a week while hiking in the nearby parks. Very clean and quiet. Perfect level of communication by the host. One thing to note is the host’s house is on the same property so the cabin does have a neighbor. Remember to bring your linen and fishing poles. Will happily stay here again!

Great little place to fish and relax
We had a very nice time at the cabin! The kids caught fish and enjoyed the row/paddle boats. We all enjoyed the fall foliage and cool temps. Very relaxing quick trip.

Relaxing getaway
Property was great. Enjoyed the pond caught a bunch of fish. Good variety. No monsters but nice size and definitely saw a few big ones so they are in there! Enjoyed the row boats. Paddle boats are a little difficult to steer but still really fun. Went hiking at the nearby state park. Really cant complain at all. Would come back for sure

About the host

My wife Darla and I both grew up in Sullivan County. My parents had the pond built, which is right next to the cabin, back in the 70's and then later sold the property. When it came back on the market in 1988 , we quickly bought the property and brought it back into the family. We currently live in the area with our three small dogs named Scooter, Princes, and Riley James. We both immensely enjoy hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling.

Why they chose this property

We built this cabin in 2006 . The cabin setting has a special serenity that just needs to be shared with the world. Many guests claim they never really find the need to travel anywhere else while in the area, since the pond and the surroundings are entertaining enough. Simply no where else you need to be! But, if you do find the need to venture out and about, the great outdoors beckons. Activities to do in the area include:
***Visit Kelly's Koop near Dushore. (Antiques, collectibles, home decor, etc.)
***Visit Bear Mtn. Trading Post in Estella, Pa near Forksville. This store has delicious soft serve ice cream, other food-collectibles, antiques and a little bit of everything else.
***Day hike the 54.6 mile long Loyalsock trail.
***Visit Hunter's Lake (approx 70 acres)near Eaglesmere, PA. If you have a canoe/kayak, you may want to bring it with you to fully enjoy this lake. It is stocked with trout and has many species of fish. You will probably see an osprey fishing, or even a bald eagle. We sometimes see eagles at our pond as well.
***Kayak down the Susquehanna River at Wyalusing, Pa. Bring your own kayak or easier yet, rent canoes/kayaks from Endless Mtns. Outfitters. They will be happy to fully accommodate you. Don't be surprised if you see bald eagles on your venture. Eagles are plentiful in this area.
***Day trip to Knoebel's amusement park in Elyburg, PA
***Visit Rickett's Glen State Park -here you can hike the trails and see amazing waterfalls, plus virgin timber. Maybe you will even see a bear!
***Visit Lake Jean at Rickett's Glen. Kayak rentals.
***Visit World's End State Park near Forksville, PA. Beautiful Loyalsock Creek runs through this park, also hiking trails, swimming, and picnic areas.
***Visit the village of Shunk, Pa. Shunk still has a general store that makes really good sandwiches, fries, etc. It has all the typical items that a general store has plus numerous antiques on display. In addition, there are souvenirs for you,

What makes this property unique

The pond offers excellent fishing. What's better, you don't need a PA . fishing license to fish in our pond. We already took care of that for you. All we ask is that you carefully, and quickly return all fish unharmed to the water. All fishing is catch and release. There are boats for your use, just always wear a life jacket, please. The pond is easily accessible and provides a refuge for many birds and animals, plus weary people that need a break from it all.
