What a great vacation!

What a fantastic place! It was recently built and the owners keep the place SPOTLESS! It is very well equipped - they seemed to have thought of everything. If you want your own music, there is a unit with a CD player, radio and input for an Ipod. It worked great!
Everything in the description and photos was 100% accurate. The owners (Tammi and Fred) live in another house on the property. They are sort of in the background and we felt alone unless we sought them out. They have lived there for years and are a great resource for guidance, recommendation and information.
The view from the porch is to die for! We ate breakfast and dinner on the porch every day. Lunch we ate at one of the other cays.
The property is situated on a peninsula in a private community. The road runs along the water and is beautiful for taking long walks. The other residents are warm and welcoming and we always felt safe even at night on the road.
Since the Abacos are a group of islands or cays, to really see them you need a boat or you can take the Albury ferry which is just down the road from the house.
We rented a boat from Water Ways, which they delivered and picked up. You really need a boat to get around. Fred is a wealth of information on the area and if you are into fishing (we are not) well, that's his passion. Rely on his advice.
Our 18' Whaler which was fine, but the locally-made Albury boats handle much better in the short chop they have there. We tied the boat up at the dock right in front of the house. It was really convenient. The cays are really close together so there is no problem with navigation.
Lowtide is located about 4 miles from the airport. We took a cab on arrival and departure. The rest of the time we went into town in the boat. We brought our own meat frozen with us hearing that the quality is not what it is here. No hassles whatsoever bringing it in. You may have sticker shock at food and fuel prices but remember that the Bahamas imports almost everything and levies a duty on it. Soda, crackers, snacks are VERY expensive. Liquor is cheap. Plan accordingly!
We loved the "restaurants" on the other cays, i.e. Nippers, Jacks, Grabbers, Cracker P's, Curly Tails, etc. There is an extensive three ring binder at Lowtide that the owners have put together. It's full of info on everything you could ever want to know about the area and attractions.
We'd recommend Lowtide to anyone. We are already planning to go back again next April.
