Villa Tatutina is a spectacular tropical estate that has been described as one of the finest and most unique properties in all of the Bahamas. “The Very Best in Island Living”. The estate is situated on beautifully landscaped and gated grounds overlooking the Harbor where the views and sunsets are breathtaking. The estate offers every amenity expected of a true luxury residence. The tropical gardens surrounding the property are extraordinary. Massive royal palms and lush highbred tropical foliage are in such abundance you have to see to believe. Outdoor entertaining areas include a towering gazebo that overlooks a beautiful pool accented with hand painted tiles and cascading waterfalls over rock formations. This spectacular area has a fabulous view of the harbor.
Villa Tatutina is comprised of 12 structures. The largest is the luxurious Master Villa that overlooks the Harbor, the magnificent pool and waterfalls. The 25 ft pentagon shaped design of the four entryways, the living room, dining room and kitchen make this villa outstanding. Beautiful decorator furnishings and custom cabinetry are featured throughout the villa. The master bedroom and bath boast cathedral ceilings with French doors that overlook a running stream and tropical flowers. The guest area is three structures situated around a courtyard with fountain and cascading bougainvillea over a beautifully lighted arbor. The main villa is designed for entertaining guests in a formal or informal setting. It has a beautifully furnished living room and dining room with custom designed cut glass windows from floor to ceiling. The private office features designer cabinets with granite workspace.
Sophisticated elegance describes the powder room. Hand blown Italian glass bowl and pedestal float on hand cut granite.
The “Chef's kitchen” is equipped with custom cabinetry, granite counter tops and a huge walk-in pantry. The guest villa is decorated in a delightful Bahamian theme and is complete with spacious living room, breakfast area and kitchen. The two lovely bedrooms each have private bath. The third structure consists of 3 guest suites designed for total comfort. A private get away with spacious bath, designer furniture and all the amenities.
The Dock will accommodate a 100' and a 70' boat and both docks have 100 amp service. There is also a 32' Intrepid fishing boat, and a Van available for additional fees.
We stayed here in October 2012 and it was nice enough. The location is good, the grounds lovely and the accommodations were nice. It is ideal for a large group with a main guesthouse that is separate from the sleeping quarters. The only complaints were that some members of our group were annoyed by how much time the owner, John, spent socializing with us.
We returned in March 2015 and were surprised by how much the place had deteriorated. The pool was filthy. The Jacuzzi broken (no attempt made to fix it). The pool-side grill was broken and never fixed. The main house and guest rooms were tidied but not clean.
Other things to note: this is a ‘luxury’ rental but guests have to pay for drinking water. There is a water filter in the refrigerator but it needs to be replaced - not sure why it wasn't. Also, when we visited a few years ago, soap and shampoo were provided but that is no longer the case. John also charges for use of snorkel gear and the kayaks, FYI.
But the most egregious issue is the appalling behavior of the owner, John, toward several of the guests. One morning, without warning, a photographer came to the house to take photos for a real estate listing. He threw our pool towels and bathing suits on the wet and dirty ground so we decided to wash them. We used our own detergent even though we were washing John’s towels (John told us if we used his detergent we would have to replace it). Later that day, John walked into the house (he never knocks first) and started screaming at us about messing up his dryer. He wouldn’t stop yelling at us even though we explained that the towels we washed were still in the washer. We finally went to the laundry room and helped him adjust the controls on the dryer (he doesn’t know how to use it). At this time, we tried to explain to him that we were washing towels because his photographer had thrown them on the ground. He told us that wasn’t his fault and it wasn’t his responsibility to replace dirty pool towels.
But that wasn’t the worst part. A cabinet door in the boathouse had rusted through its hinge and fell onto my child, resulting in bloody gash on his face (thank god it wasn’t deep enough to require stitches). John’s response to this was to scream at me that it wasn’t his fault or his responsibility to make sure his property didn’t cause injury.
At this point we decided never to return to Villa Tatutina.
And I would strongly recommend that no one rent this place either.
Our group of 11 had an unforgettable week stay at Villa Tatutina in March. The property and grounds are even more beautiful than the pictures that enticed us to go. The property is arranged in a manner that we were able to enjoy as much group fun together as we liked or have some personal time when we were ready for it. The landscaping is incredibly well designed and maintained with the affection and care of a top Orlando resort. It was a daily adventure just to walk around the grounds and see something new that we had missed the day before. Wonderful water features are all over this property. Our kids loved the pool with the waterfalls coming out of the rocks. The outdoor kitchen area had everything we needed for cooking and socializing near the pool. We all enjoyed the huge dock whether it was for fishing, watching sunrises and sunsets, reading a book, or just talking and watching the many boats in the harbor. All of the buildings are extremely well maintained and well stocked with everything we needed. If there was a rare item we weren't able to find, the owners, John and Donna, graciously did their best to provide it. John has a fantastic boat that was large enough to take our entire group on a personal tour around the islands. The property is a short distance from the airport and a large, modern grocery store is nearby. Villa Tatutina was such an amazing experience for us. The property is like having your own private resort. We can't begin to thank John and Donna for their hospitality and sharing such an awesome place. This was a vacation retreat that our friends and family will always treasure and hope to return again one day.
Family of five. Swimming pool with harbour view. Incredible. Clean rooms. Space galore. Would be terrific for more than one family. Outdoor grilling by the pool and the harbour was a perfect way to end the day. Dock your boat right behind the house. Close to town and restaurants. Really the perfect location coupled with well-appointed accomodations. Owner on property to help with any questions you may have. Great place to unwind. :-)
What a wonderful week at Villa Tatutina. There were 11 of us there and we loved it. One son said best family vacation he was ever on. Place is even more spectacular than pictures show. Place is top of the line and view beautiful. Thanks John for sharing your beautiful home with us. Guys loved the fish trip on John's boat and I personally loved it all but loved going out on dock early in morning and enjoying the boats going by. Hope to go back someday.
Villa Tatutina was spectacular!! This "private resort" had every amenity imaginable to make our first Christmas away from home the best Christmas ever! Our family of 10 (age 16-80) enjoyed having private quarters with the separate villas and gathering either at the fabulous pool area or the main villa (we called the club house) for dining, entertainment, and fun.
The pool area was beautiful with the outdoor kitchen and lounge area. We prepared lunch by the pool everyday and enjoyed cocktails and appetizers there at sunset. We had a great time fishing from the dock, kayaking in the harbor, and napping in the hammock with the wonderful breeze. We took several boat excursions and all the skiing, tubing, snorkeling gear, etc were readily available.
The "club house" was fantastic. Everyone LOVED the karaoke and audio/video system and there was a huge selection of songs and movies. The kitchen was perfect and equipped with high-end appliances and every necessity for preparing fabulous meals. We hired a chef to prepare a five course Christmas dinner. The food was outstanding and the dining table setting was beautiful!
John and Donna, the owners, were fantastic hosts. They were instrumental in making certain everything about our vacation was perfect from boat excursions, to island shopping and dining, recommending a fabulous chef, and caring for every single detail on the property.
A trip to the Abacos has been on our bucket list for many years. We planned the trip with a group of good friends and one requirement for the trip was to find a rental property that was top notch. Villa Tatutina not only met our expectations but exceeded them by leaps and bounds. The pictures of the property do not do it justice. The home and grounds are meticulously maintained. The landscaping is unbelievable. The various villas on the property are comfortable and provide privacy when needed and the "Gathering House" is perfect for group dinners and hanging out when everyone wants to be together. For me, the highlight of Villa Tatutina was the outdoor living area next to the pool. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need to prepare and enjoy a meal. The Viking grill and burners were all we needed for preparing fish tacos from our daily catch, grilling steaks, burgers, etc. There is comfortable furniture for 8 to lounge in the shade or to keep dry while an afternoon thunderstorm blows thru. There is also a restroom and shower easily accessible while at the pool or coming in from the dock. The owner, John, was onsite and took care of any needs that arose while were were there. Cannot wait to plan another trip!!
