Luxury Private Beach Front Home with Pool and Ocean Pier in Placencia

We shared the house with another family and had 4 adults and 3 children between ages 10-14. The house itself is beautiful and well designed for two families in that it has two master bedrooms and lots of living space. We spent most of our time outside, and spent the evenings out on the dock. It's often windy at night so bring a sweater or windshirt. The new pool is tremendous and gave us adults a good place to hang out. The children prefered the ocean and pulling various items from the sea (sand dollars, conch shells, etc. ). The jungle tour was great (with Percy obviously), as was the snorkeling. We enjoyed the ziplining through the jungle the most (Mama Noots). One thing to remember is that they move at a different pace than we do in the States. So if you're wanting to take a tour - plan at least two days ahead. Mabell really keeps the place clean. She does the laundry every day so you don't need to bring a lot of clothes. I only brought a carry on and was way over packed. Even when you go to dinner the dress is shorts and t-shirt. This is the first time I ever returned from a vacation with my bag full of clean clothes. There are some very good resturants nearby (Maya Beach/Mangos) as well as in the village. With a group of 7 we had to take a taxi to the village as two golf cart trips would have taken way too long. If your a wine drinker pick it up upon arrival in Belize City at the duty free as that's about the best cost and selection you'll find. If you're a beer drinker - you'll have to stomach the Beliken beer because that's all they sell (keep it as cold as you can to knock down the taste). However, we were able to drink plenty of both! If you love beef, then you'll have to smuggle your own steaks into the country. A few of the resturants have hamburgers, but that's really it. If you love fish then you're really in luck. The grocery stores are very basic, but I found a nice deli at Robert's Grove where you could get lunch meat and kilbasi. Those are really tips, as oppossed to a review. As a review - we all had a fantastic time. I can't think of a more relaxing vacation at a more beautiful house. David & Kathy were increadibly helpful in setting up the trip. Tell every establishment you go to that you're staying at the Tipsy Gecko. They all seem to know David and most give you discounts or are quick to find you a table. LOVED IT!!!!!
