Structure has energy efficient ICF foam/concrete walls, natural cedar shingles weathered from sea air,Post+beam enterior. 1 minute off legendary Cabot Trail. With lots of activities for kids, the family can enjoy a wonderful beach getaway . We're just minutes from the heritage rich Acadian village of Cheticamp, where the family can learn a little bit about Acadian culture. You can walk out the front door & across the field onto the beach, it’s a stone beach directly in front of the cottage, but approx. 400 meters down the beach it changes to a beautiful sandy beach that is very child safe and has a family-friendly atmosphere.

Owner Description: : Jyl and I live in Margaree Valley on my family's homestead property. We have 7 children, from 22 right down to 2. I drive a school bus and own a small well drilling company, Jyl is a physiotherapist.

Why the Owner Chose Cheticamp: : It started as a beach house for the family ,we all enjoy the ocean . The location was perfect because it was only 1/2 hour from our home in Margaree and close to Jyl's work.

The Unique Benefits of this Cottage: : Our cottage is located on a strip of land on the beach, with magnificent sunsets and island views toward the front ,with Cheticamp harbour, full of birds and plants with a mountain back drop to the rear. The site offers a panoramic view of the ocean, island, harbour, wild life and mountains. We're one minute off the Cabot Trail and five minutes to Cheticamp with the Cape Breton Highlands National Park about 10 minutes away.

This is a beautiful, spacious cottage with an amazing view. Peaceful, practical, and comfortable. It had everything we needed/wanted and nothing that we didn't. Close to the fishing village of Cheticamp and Cape Breton Highlands National Park. John (owner) was a great resource. WiFi worked great. We want to go back!

Absolutely magical-stunning!

The house is really amazing. Beautiful design, clean, open and contains all the amenities needed. The 8 ft sliding garage door was incredible for ocean views and enjoying our great weather. We enjoyed the privacy of the house, access to the water and a pretty view as well its proximity to Cheticamp and the entrance of Cape Breton National Park. Near great restaurants, the whale boat tours and a fresh fish market that we bought fresh fish from several times during our trip. We hope to return again.

Breathtaking views in a cottage filled with care.

We loved our vacation in Cape Breton! Even though the weather was at times not to our liking the place we stayed in was awesome. With the view of the ocean and the huge door opening to the green meadow we got the rest we came for in the first place. The cottage is immaculate, very modern, and furnished for comfort and practicality. John was there when we arrived and showed us around, so we felt truly welcome. We coked our own meals, took long walks on the beach, and surfed the internet.... We would repeat this experience without the slightest hesitation. Not only for the Cape Breton's beauty but for the comfort of this awesome cottage.

Perfect vacation

  • 5 out of 5
This is our second visit to this beautiful cottage. The family easily chose going back a second time from several good vacation options. The cottage is just as perfect as we remembered it 2 years back. The grounds have been improved with a great patio where we often ate and a large yard where we played ball and flew kites.

The cottage is laid out for perfect vacation efficiency - open floor plan that opens to the great outdoors, laundry off of the kitchen... The design is beautifully matched to the environment. You feel like you are living in a painting.

My gift from our 15 year old for Christmas this year was a frame with three photos from the trip. The first was of the cottage and surrounding landscape looking out to the water, the second was our family illuminated by firelight at one of our campfires on the beach that is right behind the cottage. The third was this year's best photo of a moose taken on one of our hikes in the National Park lands.

This year there was a Bald Eagle that worked his way up the coast, past the cottage, on a pretty fixed schedule each day. Watching a bird of that size pass by is pretty awesome.

A final practical note to those who choose to visit; we had discovered La Boulangerie Aucoin's Bakery products in the Coop in Cheticamp on our first visit but never visited the bakery itself. It is right there in town just before you get to the National Park. This time we dropped in early in the trip and then returned many times. They have a wide range of baked goods and were able to accommodate my son's nut allergy. The cookies and the meat pies were my favorites. We started to time our return to the cottage to make sure that we got to the bakery before closing.

Everything we expected and more!

  • 5 out of 5
The cottage was absolutely beautiful. Crisp, clean and comfortable. Anything and everything you'd need for your stay is provided. The yard and beach front was amazing as well. Eagles and other large birds you never thought you would get to see so close up are right in your yard on almost a daily basis. Close to town and the park on the cabot trail. Close to just about everything. We would travel all through the cabot trail area just about every day and made it home each night. Great communication from the owner. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away from it all, kick back and soak in the landscape!

Beautyful! Perfect!

The house is perfect. Everything as advertised. Very clean and very well organised. We enjoyed our stay even if the weather was not perfect. Takeout crabs from one of the local restaurants! We want to come again. And if we ever want to bild us a vacation home on the island...... John would be the man for it. You did a great job with this perfect house. Thank you!
