Breathtaking views of both river and ocean front this well appointed home will mesmerize you from the start. The view is hard to capture in photos but it’s from the river shown here to the sea. There is a peaceful ambiance that prevails. I think it’s the combination of the birds, the changing weather patterns and the light as it goes from sunup to sundown.
The living room has two deep really comfortable deep seated sofas to enjoy the views from morning to sunset!
This is a favorite spot to sit for perfect light if you want to read or bone up on bird watching. I’ve taken some beautiful family portraits of my kids and grandchildren here too. I hope I can challenge you to do the same.
Living Room with surrounding show stopping views of the River to the Pacific Ocean.
Abundant natural light is the beauty of this house from sunrise to sunset!

About this property

Casa Panama: Relax in Luxury on the Sonoma Coast

Casa Panama's spectacular setting is overlooking the Russian River Estuary and Pacific Ocean with breathtaking views and sunny living areas. This well-appointed property is surrounded by thousands of acres of parkland and open space. A haven for restorative retreats, reunions and family gatherings, and for the activity minded, there is bird watching, hiking, biking and kayaking at your doorstep.

We continue the cleaning practices we instituted during the COVID 19 crisis.
( *See complete cleaning protocol near the bottom of this page)

Casa Panama's designer kitchen, eclectic furnishings, and fine art collection create a unique and restful retreat. Enjoy a sunny private deck just outside the living/ dining rooms for a sun-drenched meal. From this vantage point, you will have incredible views from morning until sunset of the river to the coast!

The state of the art kitchen has all new appliances: large gas stove and oven, family-size refrigerator, two stainless prep sinks, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker, gourmet cooking supplies, 2 sets of coordinated Fiesta colorful dishes, glassware, and table linens.

Four elegantly furnished bedrooms (three of which are appointed with HDTV's) and plush linens ensure a comfortable and luxurious night sleep. Each of the four bedrooms has high end comfortable queen or king size beds to guarantee you have a great night sleep! Plus the family room sofa converts into a comfortable queen sleeper. There are three bedrooms and two and a half baths upstairs and one bedroom with the den and sleeper sofa on the lower floor. A total of 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. (When Casa Panama is NOT rented we do offer a two or three bedroom option as a stand-alone rental. See listing number 904724.

Just outside the downstairs door find a versatile outdoor living space that includes several seating areas with a gas grill big enough to serve your entire gathering with ease. Use the kitchenette for serving and cleanup. Enjoy the new undercover bar on that same patio for coffee or wine tasting or for feeding the kids.

A few steps from there are two big deep comfy sofas on the lower deck under yellow umbrellas overlooking the river and coast. Here you can watch the river as it seems to wrap around the property and flow out to sea. This is a perfect place to unwind while watching the the birds and kayakers passing by. Sunsets are breathtaking and yes, you can see the stars! The hot tub is at the edge of the deck with a view through the glass paneled railings.

Casa Panama is located along scenic Hwy 1, ten miles north of Bodega Bay and twelve miles west of Guerneville or 30 miles from Santa Rosa. Enjoy access to California's most picturesque beaches and hiking trails, the Russian River, redwoods, parkland and Sonoma Counties most renowned wineries. See Casa Panama.net page for additional pictures if needed.

The Jenner Headlands is now open with 14 miles of new trail. The park is over 3000 acres with new trails being added every year. This is likely the best hiking with the most stunning views anywhere in Sonoma County! Just across the river is Goat Rock State Beach, which is one of the most scenic beaches on the CA coast. North and South of Goat Rock are 7 state beaches running adjacent for miles and miles of exploration. This ecotourism at its best!

The downstairs floor of Casa Panama has its own garden entrance, living room with kitchenette, bath and bedroom with spectacular river and coastal views with a warm inviting ambiance. You have access to all the outdoor spaces, decks and hot tub.

* I want to acknowledge these are stressful times. We all need family getaways maybe more now than ever but we need to feel safe. Here's the extra precautions we are taking to advance our 5* cleaning service for our guests and family and friends.

Since viruses die faster in sunlight and in high humidity, we immediately open the house hours before your arrival and air it out completely. At Casa Panama we are fortunate to have the benefit of full sun from sun-up to sundown with higher humidity. Couple that with fresh air and sea breezes and you will likely agree this atmosphere can revitalize both your health and your spirit.

As a proactive precaution we are wiping down all hard surfaces including floors, cabinets, counter surfaces, doorknobs, light switches and appliances with a bleach solution. All bedding, including sheets, pillowcases and comforter duvets are changed, washed and sanitized. We use anti bacterial fabric spray on all soft surfaces.

We want to thank you for your patronage and let you know how much we care about your families’ welfare and your experience here. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions, concerns or comments. toni@casapanama.net

Better Than the French Riviera
Hello Future Potential Renters: I cannot possibly express the absolute excellence of this property! My wife and I rented this in association with Villa Vista—which can be attached to Casa Panama—for a family reunion. It looks wonderful on the website; in person, it looks a dream. The rooms are adorned with gorgeous, impressionistic art—some painted by Toni Tacoma, the hostess. We had access to three complete suites. Each one had fully accessorized kitchens. The flatware and cooking implements were of high quality and perfectly clean. The view, OMG, the view! I'm 67 and have traveled the world, including southern France. Nothing compares. You sit out on the balconies, looking out on the Russian River as it undulates into the Pacific Ocean. Where on earth does one get views like that? And the tiny "town" of Jenner, just a few small restaurants, a gas station, and a trailer-post-office in which the Mayor of Jenner reigns—a Chihuahua—is beyond charming. And, dig this: The BBQ implements, which no one on earth keeps clean, were absolutely immaculate. Someone either cleaned them to perfection or Toni bought new ones. I could go on and on but will a. run out of space and b. do NOT want people flooding to this property. Why? I want to make sure it is available to ME in the future. Seriously, my friends, could NOT possibly rate this property more highly nor could I rave about Toni with greater hyperbole. Alas, my time is up, Alan K

Luxury and Comfort in the heart of Sonoma Coast
The house is gorgeous and spacious with fabulous views of the Russian River and Sonoma Coast. We found it immensely relaxing. A bonus is the kitchen is very well-stocked, the beds are super comfortable, and the house is within walking distance from a cafe, restaurant, outdoor activities, and wine tasting.

5 star property with a 5 star host!
In early October 4 siblings and our spouses, some from out of state, met for a reunion at Casa Panama. What a beautiful property to be able to show off the Sonoma CA coast! The views from inside the house and on all of the decks was remarkable. Sunsets every night were photographed by all. The house is lovingly decorated with original local artwork and the furnishings comfortable and tasteful. All of the beds were luxurious and everyone reported sleeping well each night. Toni is an amazing host whose love of this home shows throughout. You can see that she enjoys keeping it in perfect shape for her guests. And you truly do feel like a guest here. The kitchen is very well stocked so no need to bring your own coffee or spices which is a wonderful plus. We, from CA are already planning a trip back here this winter. Any time of year with these views and the comfortable home will be great!

I am a decorator at heart and a retired decorator by profession. It is with great pleasure that I continue finding ways to make your stay more comfortable. I live nearby but there is always a caretaker available if you have any problems or need any help.

We rent Casa Panama in various combinations of accommodations at certain times of the year. If you prefer a smaller space you can rent Casa Panama’s option of 2-3 of Casa Panama’s bedrooms certain times of the year or Casa Panama’s Villa Vista through June of 2024.

If you need more space than Casa Panama offers you can rent both Casa Panama and Villa Vista and I will open up the area between units normally vacant for privacy and sound. That section has an adjoining staircase and 2 extra long twin beds so the total accommodation is 14 when both are rented together. (This option is only available through June 2024.)

Every day we spend at Casa Panama is like a little heaven on earth and I hope you find the same true for you!

I am originally from San Diego daughter of a well-known fashion professional of the same name and a Dutch father, a cabinet maker who built not only all the furniture but also designed and built our home on a ranch in the country. All of the famous designers visited the ranch for sophisticated parties and events while on the flip side my sister and brother and I might have been out picking oranges, tending the animals or riding our horses.

I have always loved the ocean and have fond childhood memories of daddy taking us out in the San Diego Bay for fishing trips on his cabin cruiser. I have lived on or near the sea for the past 40 years with a memorable stint in the Caribbean for 12 of those years. When I moved to the Northern California area, I just fell in love with Jenner at first sight. The people and the place just resonates a vibe you will never forget.

Why they chose this property

The history of the Jenner area is best told by our local historian Elinor Twohy. For my part I know that the sister of Josephine Santos Wright married and built what is now Casa Panama with her husband in 1950.

History of the Jenner Area by Elinor Twohy

We know that Pomo Indians had been living here for 3,000 years; however archaeologists have recently uncovered significant evidence in the middle of Duncan's Landing which may prove that Pomos were here for 10,000 years.

'Pomo' is an overall name covering six language groups and several different tribes. The local tribe, know as the Del Rio Indians, was friendly with their neighbors from around Bodega Bay, the Miwoks. From a study of the middens, we believe that they had ceremonial gatherings at Duncan's Landing.

In the 1920's the two Penny brothers owned & lived on the twenty-nine acre island that is in the middle of the river, directly in front of the town of Jenner. One brother was drowned in an accident at sea. When the other brother became ill, he wished to live the rest of his life on the island & to be buried there.

Joe Santos had come from Guam, married a local Pomo woman, built a house near the river mouth on Goat Rock Beach, & started a family. Joe agreed to carry out Penny's wishes, & in return the island was deeded to him. Joe then built a house on the island, where the Santos family grew fruits & vegetables, raised dairy cattle, & sold their produce to townsfolk of Jenner and Monte Rio. The Santos family lived on Penny Island until 1948.

One daughter, Josephine Santos Wright, born in 1904 in the original house on Goat Rock beach, still resides in Jenner & provides us with authentic historical information.

In 1975 the island was finally acquired by the State of California Department of Parks & Recreation. It has become a sanctuary for animals and birds; recent sightings include foxes, a bob cat, a mink, great horned & barn owls, & both white & brown pelicans.

What makes this property unique

Jenner is located in the center of thousands of protected open space next to a coastline lined with parks along the coastline. Just a short walk up the hill is the Jenner Headlands 5400 acres park with 14 miles of newly constructed trail.

Discovering the River estuary is best done by kayak. Don't miss the view of the seals at the mouth of the river. Watch for whales and birds as you explore Goat Rock Beach. Goat Rock Beach with its unique vantage points views and trails give you access all the way south to Shell Beach!

From Shell Beach take a historic hike along the Pomo Indian Trail inland through Willow Creek. The Pomos lived in a beautiful valley at the end of the trail. This was the route they took to tish at the coastline.

I fell in love with this property at first sight. The moment I walked in the view just took my breath away. I bought the house from the original owners who were directly related to the areas Native American band of Pomo Indians. The house was hand crafted in 1950 of regional old growth redwoods. The property was carefully selected to get the best of the sun all year around and the best view Jenner had to offer and of Penny Island family home.

Now days we are in the heart of an eco system surrounded by thousands of acres of open space, state parks, beaches, red wood forests, coastal prairies, hiking trails, biking routes and water trails yet only 30 minutes from Santa Rosa and an hour and a half to San Francisco. My staff and I came up with a list of the wildlife we've seen around here. Here it is! Foxes, Osprey, Turkey Vultures, Cows, Deer, Seals, Goats, Pelicans, Bob Cats, Bald Eagles, Hawks, Quail, Rabbits, Humming Birds and Humming Bird Moths.

If you do plan to drive to San Francisco do it at a more leisurely pace through Bodega Bay or Occidental, Freestone, Tomales, Point Reyes, Fairfax and San Anselmo. Enjoy our little towns, vistas, fresh air and coastal views. Relax and stay awhile!
