There is something for everyone in Punta Cana, but location is so important. This condo is in the best location.
Excellent, romantic and cozy place to stay. As it is new, it was clean, fresh and bright. You feel like home away from home. This condo residence is peaceful and quiet and directly on the beach. Really, l enjoyed every thing... and beautifully decorated by the owner. Also, we felt completely safe 24 hours 7 days a week, with the security guards and well-gated community. It was so comfortable and we fully enjoyed our stay. Definitely, I can recommend this to new travellers!!
I really liked the booking process... absolutely flawless. I really liked the treatment we received starting from the reservation which I felt was very easy and it carried right through to the check in and out. Annette was very sweet, professional and efficient. And, Yves our host, was the person who received us at our destination and let us know about the different beaches and areas that we might have been interested in. He did very well when he oriented us with transportation tips. We also received a wonderful welcome gift which included a bottle of Rum and package of Dominican Coffee which was so very much appreciated. His attention to our needs was great.
Everything was better then we expected!!!
Stanza Mare complex is in a great location, right on the beach, and within several minutes walk of great restaurants and some small shopping markets. We always felt completely safe in this neighbourhood. The complex itself is well maintained, and the staff were all quite friendly.
The apartment, Oasis Romantico, is nicely decorated, and well outfitted, especially the kitchen. Dealing with the Calder family was pleasant and hassle free.
Our few concerns about this rental are: the size of it. It is listed as 900 square feet, so I paced it off. It is no more than 450 sf. If you include the outdoor patio, and covered back walkway to the unit, it maybe 900sf, but we were very disappointed in the size of the unit when we arrived. However, we are just a couple, and we sat outside on the patio with all of our meals, etc. so it was fine for us. It would be very cramped in there with four people.
Some of the facecloths are getting quite dingy looking, and there is black mould starting in the grout around the tub. Easy fixes. The WI-FI was quite frustrating, the signal would often cut out.
Anyways, after all is said and done, we plan on returning. The climate is fantastic!
I will try to be as fair in this review as possible. Firstly, the complex is in a great location, close to great restaurants, small markets, etc., and we always felt extremely safe. The complex itself is right on the beach, and seems well maintained with a terrific pool area with lots of shade for those who want/need it.
Dealing with the Calder family for the rental of their apartment was hassle free, and we always received prompt replies to our questions. The apartment is nicely decorated,
The condo is a first floor unit that walks out to the pool and less than 50 yards to the white sand beaches! The unit was perfect for my husband, daughter and myself. It came with pots and pans to cook (grocery store within walking distance) and a TV with lots of channels (which hopefully you won't need since you'll be on the beach). As with most rentals in the DR, you have to prepay your electric bill (electricity is very expensive there), so initially we were concerned about how much A.C. we were going to be using, especially with our daughter napping in the middle of the day. However, the condo has a such a good cross breeze that we almost never turned on the A.C., we just keep all the windows and doors open and enjoyed the fresh air (there are screens on everything to keep the bugs out). The beach here is great too. There’s beach chairs and cabanas for residents and guests only and a security guard on the beach that chases off anyone who’s not from the complex who tries to use them, so there was almost always chairs and shade available for us on the beach. The owners are great to work with. Called us and discussed all the details before signing any papers AND answered a heck of a lot of questions I emailed her weeks and days before our trips. She was patient and really helpful. She even had advice on restaurants and activities to do. The local host was also great. He met us at the airport so we didn’t have to deal too much with the rat race of aggressive cabbies who meet you at baggage claim and ask non-stop, “which hotel, which hotel?” (typical of a lot of places we’ve been to in the Caribbean) We just told them all we weren’t staying at a hotel and that we were being picked up by our friend Josh, and we were. The grocery store by the airport is larger and less expensive than the ones closer to the condo (and the beach), so he took us there on the way to the condo so that we could buy the bulk of our groceries for the week and then we just picked up odds and ends things from the local grocery store as we needed them.
Very comfy and quiet. Walk right off the patio to the wonderful pool and 50 yards to a private and secure (Jose was great) beach with private chairs for owners. Nearby restaurants and grocery were very good. Nan Nam, Belicana, Hurricane, Sole all very good and the breakfast at Chikeeta Bonita was excellent. Condo was as described and comfortable. We came to relax and have a good time, and I would stay here again. Only downfall for us was that we do not speak Spanish which could have been helpful, but not necessary.
So let me first start off by saying everything in this listing was exactly as advertised. I have never book a trip through a vacation rental site before and was a little nervous about booking my honeymoon but now after how great it worked, I can't wait to try this type of service again!
The Process - The Calder Family was very responsive and helpful in planning the trip. The payment process was smooth and secure and I felt reassured every time we emailed or spoke on the phone.
The condo - So beautiful! Furnished perfectly, had everything we needed to cook and go to the beach. The staff and security at the complex was top notch! Everything was working, clean (very clean) and the area was very safe! The pool was amazing the neighbors were friendly and everything was so close!
Yves - He was the local contact, picked us up from the airport, took us to a local grocery store, told us about the area even had some excursions he can take you on!
Honestly I would not change anything, the beach was amazing, we walked up and down that beach and what was right in front of us was the best spot on the beach!
If you are looking for a great place to stay and not in all inclusive resort ; which everyone we spoke to said was nice but were jealous of our condo and how instead of a hotel room we had a home away from home.

Prepaid electricity: $10 per night is included in the rate. This is more than ample for the average family. If more than this is needed, which is quite rare, then the additional energy costs are deducted from the security deposit. This system encourages people to be energy conservative, which is very necessary in a resort community. It is the electricity companies that have set our electricity rates quite high due to the condo residence being in a tourist zone.
Energy Conservation Tips: Mostly, it is overuse of the a/c and the hot water heater, that can cause high energy consumption.
A/C tips: We recommend to turn the a/c on for 10 minutes prior to bed time, and leaving the ceiling fans on for good air circulation. This is typically sufficient to cool the whole condo down for the whole night.
Hot water tips: The hot water tank has an on/off switch nearby it. Turning the hot water heater on 10 minutes before showering, and remembering to turn it off 10 minutes after showering, will be enough to provide hot water for most daily needs.
* Approximate monthly rate. Actual rate will depend on the days of the month you stay.
Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (USD) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.
