Golf: Located in the heart of the Whitsundays, the Hamilton Island Golf Course and Golf Club is not only setting a new standard in golfing in Australia but rivals the most spectacular golf courses in the world.
Designed by champion golfer Peter Thompson and located on Dent Island, a 10 minute ferry ride from Hamilton Island, the par 71, 18 hole course is the only championship island golf course in Australia.
The undulating course is impeccably maintained and offers golfing enthusiast of all levels a challenging round while constantly been mesmerised by the 360 degree views of the turquoise Whitsunday waterways and pristine islands all dotted with startlingly pretty beaches.
The course is designed as a series of holes strung along the islands ridges and is played across steep valleys where grass tress and hoop pines grow in luxuriant abandon. From beginners, to experts, caddies and friends, you cannot be anything but impressed with the design and construction feat that has been achieved with this island built course.
The course features two distinctly different nine-hole circuits returning to a central clubhouse. The outward nine holes are a more compact layout around the centre of the island and the inward nine are strung out along the ridges to the south.
Dent Island is easily accessed via a quick ten minute ferry transfer from the Hamilton Island Marina.
