About this property

MASSANUTTEN FOR KIDS - Upper Mountain with Playroom and Views of the Slopes!

This classic cabin is on a beautiful wooded lot overlooking a creek and the upper mountain golf course, close to everything, and with winter views of the slopes. The location within the resort is ideal.

The cabin is a great space for two families, small groups, and kids of all ages.

The cabin features three levels of living space, four bedrooms, three full bathrooms (all recently renovated), a brand new modern kitchen, open floor plan, a rec room, a playroom for the kids, a flat driveway (a luxury around here in the winter), and a large wrap-around deck.

The main level has an open floor plan, spacious great room, vaulted ceilings, exposed wood beams, and plenty of windows with mountain views from everywhere. It's a classic A-frame style decked out with modern furniture and fixtures, dining table for 8, and a smart tv (Roku and streaming services included). The great room opens to the modern kitchen which includes stainless steel appliances and a large granite island w/ 3-seat bar. The main level also includes two bedrooms (queen and 2-twin), and a full bathroom.

The upper-level loft is a comfortable and private third bedroom (master/king) and full bathroom.

The finished lower level includes a small bedroom with beautiful custom built-in twin bunk beds, a spacious rec/family room w/ club chairs, a 58-inch smart TV, (Roku and streaming services included), a foosball table, a full bathroom, and a playroom for the little ones. Read our reviews. The kids love this space!

- For the kids -
Every vacation home has a few board games and a deck of cards (this home is no exception), but we know how excited our own kids are when they find something new... so our playroom is stocked with blocks, dinosaurs, cars, puzzles, books... etc. So there is plenty to keep even the little ones entertained on a rainy day. We also have an assortment of gear (pack and play, foot stools, booster seat, etc.) to lighten your load and make your stay more comfortable. Please ask if you have questions about the availability of any specific items.

- Amenities -
We designed and furnished this cabin with our own family in mind. We love the outdoors and open spaces, and we love the look (from the outside) of a classic rustic cabin. Inside, we like modern decor and amenities! We offer high speed wireless internet access, two flat-screens TVs (with streaming included), and a brand new fully stocked kitchen for all your culinary needs.

- Things to do -
We're located near the top of the Massanutten Resort, not more than five minutes from all resort activities including the ski slope, indoor/outdoor water park, recreation centers, year-round tubing, two golf courses, go-karts, mini-golf, ice skating (seasonal), horseback riding, fishing ponds, playgrounds, and fantastic hiking. And of course, you can venture outside the resort to the nearby Shenandoah National Park, Shenandoah River, Luray Caverns, local wineries, lavender farm... etc. Options for outdoor entertainment in The Valley are endless, and we will provide you with LOTS of good recommendations to make sure that you get the most out of your vacation.

- We make it easy -
We always provide our guests with linens and towels, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, and other cleaners. We also provide starter sets of paper products like paper towels and toilet paper. Although we don't inventory other items, some essentials often stay stocked such as assorted spices, cooking oil, sweeteners… etc.

We hope that you enjoy your stay at Massanutten!

Mountain Getaway
We had a fun time staying at the "Red Barn". The property was clean and centrally located to all things Massanutten. My kids loved the foosball table and we had a family tournament. There is plenty of space to spread out when we needed to chill.

The Barn at Massanutten
We stayed there to celebrate my 7yo granddaughter's birthday at Massanutten Waterpark. First, I researched many properties. This property offered the best price for what we got and was very close to the waterpark. Second, communication with owner could not have been better. Very friendly, very quick, very responsive. Third, the playroom was such a hit with my grandchildren (7 & 10). They really wanted to sleep in the built-in bunkbeds, but they played so much they fell asleep both nights in the playroom and never made it to a bed! My grandson was elated to see different wildlife animals right outside the door each day. We absolutely would stay there again. Two nights wasn't nearly long enough for any of us.

Perfect!
My family had a great time at this house! It was the perfect size home for our group. The master was big enough for us, our toddler, and baby to share while our grandmother, parents, and sister enjoyed the other rooms. The play space in the basement was ideal for our kids, they had a blast! We loved that the host provided lots of baby things for us (pack and play, highchair, baby gate). They thought of everything to make traveling with kids easier. On our 2nd day at the house a fawn bedded down right under the deck, it was so sweet! Just a note to future travelers- bring dishwasher detergent with you & perhaps camp chairs to enjoy the deck.

A fantastic spring break getaway
We had a wonderful time at this clean, accurately-described cabin on Massanutten Resort. The dining options, activities, and nearby hikes made it so we never had to leave the campus for the whole week. Our kids loved the stocked playroom (probably best for ages 1 - 8) and gave us parents a break from constantly inventing some new game to entertain the kids. Outside the cabin, everyone enjoyed the nearby indoor water park, the petting zoo, and the various playgrounds and nature trails. We'll definitely be back!

We met at James Madison and live in Northern Virginia with our three children. We volunteer at school, church, and with youth sports. We spend as little time as possible waiting in Tyson's Corner traffic.

We started coming back to the valley a few years ago and found Massanutten to be the perfect weekend vacation spot for our family. This was something that I definitely did not anticipate as a ski instructor here in 1999.

We were very excited to purchase this home in the Summer of 2012, and have had fun preparing a great space to share with our friends and our guests.

Why they chose this property

We love the activities that Massanutten Resort provides. We really like the look and feel of this home, the layout is great for our family and friends, and the location in the resort is perfect!

What makes this property unique

The views, large flat driveway, and our playroom equipped with enough goodies for our youngest guests.
