This restored villa has private pool / jacuzzi, Turkish bath and pool house

The layout of the villa is a little complicated, as before the restoration a part of the building was a house while the other part was a stable. Now at the ground floor there are two fully equipped kitchens, a spacious lounge with vaulted ceiling and a formal dining area that can comfortably seat six people. Stairs from the lounge lead to a romantic double bedroom on a stunning mezzanine floor. Beyond the dining area is a small, beautiful bay-windowed conservatory in which you can relax, read or just take a nap. At the same floor there are two bathrooms and a twin bedroom with French door leading to a back yard. On the first floor there are a bathroom and a double bedroom with a private balcony. To the side of the property, in the pretty walled-garden, is the swimming pool and jacuzzi. Enjoy pool-side lounging on the wooden deck, take a break for drinks and snacks in the impressive pool-house, enjoy an outdoor meal from the gas barbecue and relax in the steam room.

16 km west of Chania, in this very fertile corner of Crete, Maleme was famously the setting for the epic Battle of Crete in the last world war. Today the countryside is dominated by sweet smelling orange groves and whispering plantations of tall bamboo which fringe the mile upon mile of almost deserted beaches, punctuated by the occasional cosmopolitan hotel. Maleme has a good choice of tavernas, and a fairly large supermarket and although the village has undoubtedly grown in recent years, it still retains a pleasingly unsophisticated air and if you explore a little, you'll soon find the local baker and a real Greek butcher's shop. For a little more action the bustling village of Platanias is just under 4km away but if you prefer a slower pace of life and a rather more tranquil atmosphere, there are several sleepy villages located just inland.

Everything went wonderful. Well located in the charming village of Maleme, the house was absolutely charming, confortable and easy to live. Thank you again to our local host for her kindness and very helpful presence. Chania is another beautiful harbour with the old Venitian town. Food was excellent especially fishes. We had a superb weather and managed to escape from the crowd over 2 weeks while visiting the whole West of Cretia, from North to South. For a nice and private sailing trip from Chania, ask for Nikos on the old harbour. We shall be back next year!!!
