My wife and I spent four day´s in Soi Dao, january 2010,
much too short!
After spending a week on the beach in Bali we were ready for adventure. We choosed minibus from Bangkok to Soi Dao for two reasons. To see the beautiful landscape going east towards the Cambodian border and to get closer to the Thai people who use this way of transportation because it´s cheap and very efficiant. When arriving in Soi Doi it felt we were in the middle of nowhere. We took a Tuc-Tuc upp the hills to this beautiful estate. The Villa is first class, best situated in the whole area with a wonderful view. The villa is well maintained and very nicely furnished. We started with a drink on the terrace overviewing the hills and djungle. Then dinner in the very nice restaurant just a minute from the house. This is not a place for people looking for disco. In Soi Dao you enjoy silence only interrupted by birds and exotic sounds. You can enjoy nature tracking in the big national reserv park where you can meet bears, tigers, elephants and a many other animals. We recommend you follow the waterfall up to level nine or ten. Go bicycling through the enormous fruitplantages. Take long walks or just sit down in the shadow "at home" and read about Thailand and this very special region, so close to Cambodia,
It´s amazing to see how well these Swedish families
take care of there" winterhouses" so far away from Sweden. The whole area is very well looked after and the people you meet are doing all they can to make your stay "a good one". If you enjoy thai-massage by the pool, they´ll fix that, or take you to the golf course 20 min. away, or all the way to the Cambodian border - if you like us, would like to continue to Siem Reap and Angkor Wat.
