Set on a Championship golf course next to its own sandy beach with luxury Hotel (including indoor swimming pool and spa) this is a spacious one bedroom property located just one hour from Valencia airport/just over an hour from Alicante. The apartment overlooks the outdoor pool (which is shared with other residents) and is a peaceful location within the beautiful 5* Oliva Nova resort which makes it ideal if you don't want to go to far to enjoy relaxation - ladies you can relax and enjoy these facilities whilst the men are playing golf! Eat al fresco at the apartment or make use of the Hotels & Club House restaurants and bars or dine locally in one of the many local village restaurants.

The apartment is spacious and easily sleeps 4 with a double bedroom (which can be used as twin) and has very large sofa bed suitable for sleeping two adults comfortably in the sitting room. (i.e. queen size).

The beach is an easy 5-10 min walk (depending on your speed) from the apartment and it stretches for 17 miles! We have walked in different directions to beach bars for lunch then back again.

About Julie Drew

We bought the apartment as we love the area (very Spanish). The area offers sun, sand and sea. We like somewhere to relax and this apartment and the Oliva Golf Club complex gives us this. We live in the UK and don't get to Spain often enough because of work (has to be done!!) and as we sail a lot this keeps us in the UK in the Summer.

Why Julie Drew chose Oliva

The apartment and the area is not for guests wanting a hot night life (you can get this in Denia aprx. 15 miles). Great for families with small children because the pool is so safe and the baby pool was great when our own son was small. Also great for couples wanting to relax. The Hotel complex 5 mins walk away has a very smart restaurant and there is also a pool bar at the Hotel. Beach bars are fun just a 10 mins walk away (open in the Summer months).

What makes this apartment unique

We want you to enjoy it as your own 'home from home' and we hope you will enjoy it....! The beach really does go for aprx. 17 miles and you can walk and walk and walk.....tennis and golf on site (pre book).

Two weeks in June 2009

My wife and I stayed for two weeks in June and enjoyed a very relaxing holiday with excellent weather, we are early 50's and happy not to have the loud nightlife nearby so this was an excellent location. The apartment was as described and we found it to be very clean & tidy in a gated setting with own allotted car parking. The water was always hot & the shower was very good. The air conditioning was excellent although with windows to open meant we hardly had to use it. There were ample cooking utensils & pans although a microwave may have been an added bonus for some. We cooked quite a few meals without any problems and enjoyed eating on the balcony. The TV has some English channels and the DVD/CD player works well. It also plays MP3 CD's. We took our own in case and this is a must.

There were some reading books & a set of playing cards in the apartment but no real guide to local facilities so do your planning before you go if you are looking for discovering things to do. A visit to Valencia was easy by car or train & it was 75 minutes from Alicante Airport and easy to find.

The pool is excellent with no deep end and the area was kept immaculately clean by the service staff. There were areas you could lay in the gardens & around the pool to get the sun all day but this meant moving around and there was no poolside furniture so you needed to lay on the tiles or the grass.

The area has lots of water & is very green with oranges, lemons and rice being grown. The beach is very clean with safe entry to the sea although a little windy at times. There is a large kite surfing community on the beach and you can fish off the mouth of a river where it meets the sea. There are plenty of places to eat in nearby Oliva, a drive away, or further a field in Denia & Javier which are 30 minutes drive away. The hotel also did excellent food but we thought the Oliva restaurant was a bit pricy for what you got compared to the general hotel restaurant where the set menu of the day or the weekend buffet was 20€. A treat for truly top notch food is the restaurant 'Calima' on the sea front at Javier. A really good lunchtime meal is to be had at 'Moby Dick's' near the Red Cross station at Oliva Player. All Spanish and used by the locals, 4 course & drinks & coffee for 8.50€. The beach is lined with camp sites and they also have places where you can eat.

We would definitely recommend this place for a relaxing holiday or a beach holiday.

The apartment is in a quiet location. The shower is hot and powerful and the bed is very comfy. The pool is nice, although its not heated so we did not attempt to go in in April. The beach is more like a 10 minute walk (a good walking pace) but a gorgeous, quiet place to relax. There were not any bars, looks like they had closed down.

We found the apartment a little 'tired'. The towels, furniture, crockery, curtains, etc appears worn and well used and need of replacing. It was quite clean on the surface but we did need to wash the crockery etc before using.

I think it would definitely be a benefit having wifi at the apartment.

The bar on the complex was quite a good place to go but a bit pricey.

It would be useful to have a folder with times of openings on the site, and maybe a guest book for recommended restaurants etc.

We had a day out to Valencia which is well worth a visit. A gorgeous little cove called Casa del Grande, near Javea, is definitely worth a visit.

Owner's Response: I think this review is quite honest. I would like to comment on a couple of things regarding the apartment being "a little tired" and general comments about the area. The apartment was newly built in 2006 and has in general been rented through the summer months July & August as its mainly a tourist / holiday destination. So yes the beach is fantastic and a 10 mins walk which isn't hard and is off the beaten track, it's not along a busy road so a pleasant walk.

WIFI has never been mentioned before. I suppose as most of the rentals are through the summer months people are trying to get away from computers. With regard to the tired look, I will review. I'm due to go out this year so will see what I think. The pool isn't heated as in the summer it really isn't needed. This rental was in April after a very cold spring, but there is a hotel on site with an INDOOR Heated pool which you can arrange to use direct with the hotel.

I will ensure the cleaning is better than this renter might have found and will review this with the agent IMMEDIATELY! Personally I ALWAYS wash the plates, cutlery etc when I do self catering wherever I go and also when I go over to the apartment. It's just something I do.......even if the cleaner has been in the day before!!

We had a guest folder and have had to replace it several times...sorry but if other guests have removed it we can't keep putting it back!! There are usually brochures of things to do in the area but again these get removed, probably accidentally left in cars when people take them out for reference.

Agreed the cove near Javea is well worth a visit.

This is a very good property for either a couple or a family with small children. The facilities offered are excellent - especially a washing machine and the stereo system with a DVD player. For a good english radio station use Bay Radio. Good shower force (always important for me!) but be warned - the water is on a tank so not always possible to have two showers straight after each other - my partner found this out when he went second :-) !

To save on luggage weight, it is advisable to bring less clothes and do some washing - wished I'd really thought this through first. There is an iron and ironing board. There were some bulbs not working but we didn't contact the agency whilst there - we did leave a note for them. The living room was a little dusty but we don't know if the apartment had been used before we got there. Kitchen is well equiped and the large fridge with a small freezer compartment is a god send as we cooked each night.

We went the last 2 weeks of August and this was a good time for us as we do not like too much noise or too many children around us. Pool was kept very clean as was the rest of the grounds. The resort is quite large to walk around but our apartment was away from the main complex (only a few mins walk) which is what we wanted. There are two rubbish dumps near the apartment and these were emptied regularly.

Beach nearby is sandy and clean - 10 mins walk but during our stay it was too windy for us to sit there. Air con worked well - we tended to use this after coming back at the end of the day just to cool down and then switched it off during the night. Sun comes directly in the living room and on the balcony in the mornings and moves off just after noon which allowed the room to be a little cooler in the late afternoons. Temps of 26-28 degs at 8am were wonderful.

You do need a car to stay at the golf resort. However the N332 is an excellent road to drive on and makes visiting the surrounding area very easy. We drove to Xeraco train station to catch the train into Valencia (5euros return each Mon-Fri or 6.10euros at weekends).

Either Valencia or Alicante are good airports to use. We flew to Alicante which is about 1hr15mins max to get to the apartment (this is after you have gotten out of the airport car hire place).

We enjoyed our 2 week stay at the apartment. We would consider using the apartment again if we returned to the area. I would recommend the apartment to others.

Owner's Response: With regs to the water tank....I am suprised to hear this as we've always managed to get at least two showers and a bath when we've been out (there is 3 of us)....so when I go out soon I will double check that it is working properly (you do need to ensure you let it heat up for a few hours - if its been switched off prior to your arrival though - so give it a few hours initially then it should be ok). Will sort the dust.....need to have a word with the cleaning agent!!

The security around the apartment is a big plus especially if you have young children. The description given of the apartment is accurate, and was clean and very well maintained and well equipped.
The pool which is conveniently close to the apartment is fantastic and kept clean every day and the baby pool next to it made it a lot easier with very small children. There were some swimming aids left by owner which the children made good use of.
The complex itself is lovely. The hotel, which you can use, was clean and of a very high standard. When my son met the Villareal football players at the hotel where they were training it made his week. It was a bit disappointing that the kids clubs was from age 4 upwards as we were unable to put our 3yr old in to one, but there was plenty of other things to do. One thing I would recommend if you holiday in August and book a tennis court, make sure you book after 8pm at night as up to then it is still extremly hot. Also if you did not have a car you would probably struggle to venture to any of the nearby towns as whilst there I saw no public transport.
Overall I would recommend this property to friends and family as it was a very enjoyable family holiday

La estancia ha sido muy agradable. El apartamento está situado en una urbanización tranquila y está dotado de todas las comodidades. Además es amplio, espacioso y confortable.
El apartamento tiene una piscina redonda y limpia. Quizás el único “pero” a nuestras vacaciones seria que la televisión es bastante antigua y la mitad de los canales españoles no se ven y los que se pueden captar se ven mal. También cambiaría el sofá, es poco cómodo y además al ser de piel con el calor te quedas pegado en él.

Whilst staying at the Tamarindo Apartment all of the Oliva Nova Resort facilities are available to the guests. These include just a few minutes walk away the golf resort, a 4* hotel with its restaurant and bar facilities, small boutique shops, a supermarket and tennis courts. Within the Resort there is also a Health Spa with gymnasium & indoor swimming pool (one of the best on the Costa Blanca), Bank, hairdressers & 24 hour medical centre. During July & August a Kids club operates and the play area is available year round. The beach which stretches for over 17 miles is popular for Para surfing, has golden white sands and a few fun beach bars. The beach is approx 5 min walk from the apartment. Please check directly with the hotel with regard to their charges for any of the services you require. The whole Oliva Nova and Jalon area offers sport, relaxation and romance along with fun and excitement if you wish to find it locally. La Granadella Bay, Javea is a great for snorkelling.

  • The lounge has a very comfortable and larger then usual double sofa bed. This first floor apartment is spacious facing south east with balcony over-looking the residents pool and spa. Leading off the hallway are the bedroom, bathroom (bath & shower) and a modern fully equipped kitchen (with washing machine). To the other side of the hallway you will find the lounge/diner with terrace doors that lead to the balcony overlooking the swimming pool and spa. The balcony offers ample terracing for those wishing to soak up the sun or dine al fresco. The furnishings offer a high standard of luxury - including in the lounge the unusually large sofa bed (Queen size) so as up to 4 persons can stay in comfort. In the bedroom a zip-link bed offers flexibility as this can be made up into either a king size double or twin beds. All bed linen is supplied. Ample storage space is available in the main bedroom.
