Photos and Description of this 9th Arrondissement Opera holiday apartment

Although this apartment is in one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Paris, its beautiful 18th century building is situated on a park so calm you’ll think you’re in the country. The apartment itself continues the illusion of a retreat in the heart of hipness – with charmingly angled ceilings, romantic views of rooftops through the multitude of south-facing windows, and brilliantly mixed rustic and modern furnishings. But despite this, all of Paris’s best is just steps away – with three metro stations just five minutes your door, and major destinations including Galeries Lafayette, the Opera Garnier, Montmatre and Sacre Coeur within easy striking distance. Martyrs is perfect for a relaxing, yet unforgettable vacation.

The apartment sleeps up to 6 people. (a 160 cm queen size bed and two sofa beds extremely comfortable)

Guestbook comments from the manager

On reviendra ! Merci !

Wonderful Apartment, Food Food Food

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I visited Paris after 14 years and could not ask for a better apartment. Thank you Arthur for making our trip so memorable. It was everything iyou said it was and more.

The bathroom was very roomy, modern and very clean. The bedroom was very comfortable with clean linens and lots of closet space. The kitchen had everything you need to prepare a meal or bring one of the gourmet dishes from the local shops home.

I can't say enough about the location of the apartment. It is a food lovers dream. We had fresh croissants and baguettes everyday. There are tons of cheese shops, bakeries, restaurants, ice cream shops and local fruit and vegetable stands on this street alone. - Needless to say we will be back very soon.

Fantastic Location/Beautiful Apartment

  • 5 of 5

We traveled in Europe with our family renting apartments from VRBO, and this was by far our favorite apartment!! We spent six nights at the apartment. The apartment is set back off the street and faces a beautiful quiet courtyard. We loved being on the sixth floor with roof top views of Paris. You can see the Opera House from the kitchen window. The apartment was very comfortable and clean and was well stocked for our needs. The apartment is close to excellent dining and a short walk to Sacre Coeur.

Great apartment in a great location

  • 4 of 5

We really loved staying here and would recommend it for certain types of travellers.

There were three of us travelling together - myself, my 12-year old daughter and my friend. We looked a long time for apartments to rent as we needed 3 beds. What makes this apartment great is that there is one bedroom with a queen sized bed plus there are 2 sofa beds, which are very comfortable. There is also a divider that makes one of the beds into a separate bedroom. The photos are an accurate reflection. The apartment was spotlessly clean, with beautiful linens and comfy pillows and blankets. It has good views of the city and is so high up it gets wonderful breezes.

Rue des Martyrs is a wonderful street to stay on. The apartment is in a complex off the main street by a few feet so remains largely quiet (another big plus). The 9th arrondissement is fantastic. I've stayed in Paris several times before but never in this area. I would highly recommend it - a fromagerie (cheese shop) across the street, a boulangerie (bakery & for fresh baguette) a few shops away plus Carrefour and Monoprix (larger grocery stores) within walking distances. Buses and Metro are easy to find too.

With the company, Placestobe, Arthur was easy to deal with and very helpful. We had a late train ride on our checkout day and we were allowed to keep our luggage with them for the day.

There are two downsides to the apartment. There is a small elevator for transporting 2 people at a time or a lot of luggage. For us, we didn't mind going up and down the stairs. But if mobility is an issue, this might not be the right place for you. The second downside is that the toilet compartment is separate and small. It worked well for us three women but I don't think a very large person would fit. The shower and rest of the bathroom is quite large though.

Great apartment, perfect location

  • 5 of 5

I've previously stayed in hotels and apartments, all in the 5th, 6th, & 7th arr. This time I wanted to experience a different part of Paris. The location of this very comfortable apartment is ideal - on the very trendy and non-touristy Rue des Martyrs at the foot of Montmartre (Sacre Coeur is visible from the cafes on the Rue), and with easy access to several Metro stations. Rue des Martyrs is loaded with great cafes (we loved Terra Corsa and Smiley's), markets, and shops. It was wonderful to sit in one of the cafes and watch the comings and goings of the people who live in the area, which includes many families with children and young professionals. The apartment is on the top (7th) floor (with a tiny lift) of a beautiful building overlooking a leafy courtyard, and has views to the Opera, Pantheon, & Pompadou Centre. I was there with my son & daughter-in-law and found it ideal for the three of us (four adults could easily stay but the apartment is really too small for more than that). The photos do justice to the actual apartment although the rooms are a bit smaller than the pictures show (especially the bedroom and WC). Nevertheless, it was the perfect place to stay, and the price was right. SO much more for your money than even a one- or two-star Paris hotel, plus all the convenience of your own kitchen, lounge space, and washing machine. Didier was very responsive and helpful. I loved finding and enjoying a new area of this magical city, and highly recommend this apartment for your Paris visit!

First Class Accommodation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent three lovely nights in the apartment in June 2011. It was such a luxury to have an apartment rather than stay in a hotel room - we enjoyed leisurly coffee and pastry in the mornings and wine and cheese in the afternoons. It is appointed with everything you might need, and also very conveniently located - to the main sites, the metro, bakery grocery store. And so nicely decorated, we really got a sense of Parisian chic. Highly recommended - we only wish we had more time!

Logement idéal pour visister Paris

  • 5 of 5

Bref a recommander vivement !!

Located rue des Martyrs in the 9th arrondisement, the apartment is served by three underground stations: Pigalle, St. George and Notre Dame-de-Lorette. The 9th is now the emblematic neighborhood of modern Paris, inhabited by both newcomers and by native Parisians. The Grands Boulevards, Grevin Museum, the Grand Rex cinema with the biggest screen in Paris, Galeries Lafayette, Opera Garnier, Sacre Coeur, the Canal Saint-Martin – all are within easy reach from Martyrs. On the hip rue des Martyrs itself, you’ll find the best food shops of the capital city, as well as many irresistible shops, cafes and typically Parisian restaurants.

The apartment is also very well located for gourmets. Indeed, the rue des Martyrs is of particular interest to those seeking a culinary adventure, as it is at the heart of one of the most renowned food districts in Paris including: Pastry Sébastien Gaudard (l former assistant to Pierre Hermé at Fauchon), bakery Arnaud Delmontel awarded the prize for the best baguette in Paris, the British grocery bio-Rose Bakery, stormed by the Parisians to found pizzettes brioche, fresh salads, a daily risotto cakes killers, pest muffins.

Furthermore, we find it, cheese shops, fishmongers, and many other regional and traditional artisan food shops (Corsica, Greek).
