The English-owned Los Molinos holiday apartment, perfect for two people, is ideal accommodation for peaceful idyllic holidays in this rural region of Southern Spain.
The apartment is situated on an attractive pueblo which is terraced into the contours of the mountainside and in keeping with the old Spanish style of narrow walkways and staircases - very pretty.
This is an airy one bedroomed apartment, which occupies an excellent site on the pueblo. To the South, the view ultimately leads towards Fuengirola and the sea. On the pueblo side three juliette balconies overlook the private plaza with its splashing fountain. The decor is Spanish style with tasteful furnishings and some genuine antiques. At the same time, the apartment has now been considerably modernised and has double glazing, mutli-channel TV, air-conditioning/heating in the bedroom, new kitchen appliances and an attractive, easy-to-use electric stove in the living room fireplace.
Entering the pueblo from the main road is like discovering a different world. It is a select residential area adorned with fountains and flowers complementing the sandy coloured flagstones and terracotta tiled roofs. A swimming pool, shared only by owners and renters, is to be found two terrace levels above the apartment.
There are excellent local amenities. Served by three nearby restaurants for those days when going far is just not an option, the pueblo also benefits by being only five minutes walk from several other places to eat including a Chinese restaurant and an English Tea Shop offering free Wifi to patrons.
There's a well stocked supermarket within around five minutes walk and eight to ten minutes will bring you to Mijas' buzzing village centre.
Mijas is a well known village, famous for donkey rides and the Shrine of the Lady de la Pena; an ancient and peaceful sanctuary set within a cave on a promontory high above the olive green slopes which lead down to Fuengirola and the Mediterranean sea.
Many people come to Mijas for a day visit, few stay overnight; there is only one hotel. There are, however, many souvenir shops, their brightly coloured wares displayed outside as well as in. This is definitely a place where you can shop till you drop - if you so desire!
If you don't, there are also lots of places to relax and take in the many magnificent views whilst sipping quality Spanish wine, sangria or delicious, aromatic coffee.
And, back at the apartment ....
The kitchen is well equipped and includes full oven and four ringed hob, fridge, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities, plentiful supply of cutlery, crockery, pans and cooking utensils.
The bedroom has ample fitted wardrobe space, four poster bed, bedside tables with angle wall lamps, full length mirror, dressing table with generous mirror, lamp and hairdryer.
The bathroom is fully tiled and has both bath and shower facilities, toilet, washbasin and bidet.
The living room is light and airy, comfortably and tastefully furnished in antique Spanish style with three sets of double french windows opening onto balconies above the plaza.
It is a large L shaped room with some unique pieces in dark wood, an antique dining table and four carved dining chairs in the short leg of the L whilst the larger side is devoted to relaxation, offering two two-seater couches near the fireplace with its attractive, easy-to-use electric stove. On a chilly evening enjoy the warmth of the fan heater, if its a warm night, cool the room with the fan on cold setting and, if the temperature is already perfect, simply use the glowing flame effect to provide a comfortable, cosy glow.
Once comfy on the couches, you can choose a book from our collection, play old fashioned games like Scrabble, or catch up by watching multi channel TV - your glass need not be far away, there's a nearby coffee table and soft, low lighting to set the scene.
Outside, one floor below, the little plaza has a delighful fountain, splashing cheerfully by day and tactfully silent at night when it switches off to ensure a peaceful night's rest.
There are wrought iron tables and chairs and you can sit here, soaking up a little sunshine whilst having a snack or light lunch. If you want to make the most of it, there are comfy, lighweight deckchairs to carry out - you might just end up snoozing a little ....
