Overview

Photos and Description of this Gaiole in Chianti holiday villa

Totally secluded, stunning sunset views, self-contained studio, pets welcome

Podere Scopeto is a villa and a separate studio sleeping maximum 12. The house is high up on a hill at about 600m above sea level with outstanding views towards the sunset. It overlooks woods, vineyards and the medieval towns of Radda and Castellina. The nearest town is Gaiole (15 min) in the triangle of Siena, Florence and Arezzo. It is in the middle of the Gallo Nero classic wine region with Brolio, Castello Meleto, Coltibuono on your doorstep.

We have a large saltwater pool with spacious sun terraces and pergolas which offer our guests boyant relaxation, but for the more energetic there are miles of woods and hills to walk in beyond the 30 privately owned acres surrounding the house. It has a huge BBQ with enough chairs and tables to seat 24 comfortably on one of three terraces. More secluded hammocks and picnic places are dotted around the property under the shade of our olives and sweet chestnuts. We have reliable crystal clear water from our own well and faultless heating and plumbing system. 2 fireplaces cheer our winter visitors. From the main road you drive 2 and a half km through the woods on an un-tarmaced road which is not suitable for low-slung vehicles.

Details for Farmhouse 5 Bedrooms, Sleeps 11, 4 Bathrooms

The farmhouse sleeps 10 plus a child in a small child's bed which normally serves as a small sofa in one of the bedrooms. If only the farmhouse is rented and not the studio you may find strangers about 60 metres away in the studio who share the pool and parking area with you.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Ciao Marina, we had a wonderful holiday, thank you! The weather hovered ner 30 degrees all week. The villa was perfect, and everybody had a super time. The EROICA was the toughest yet as we all suffered greatly in the heat. The 200 km took us 16 hours. As ever the scenery and hospitality made it worthwhile. Grazie!

Erholung pur!

  • 5 of 5

Stunning Villa in the heart of Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this gorgeous villa with a group of friends and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I was blown away by the breathtaking views of the Tuscan hills in front of the house where we enjoyed watching the sunset with a cocktail most evenings. The Villa itself is beautiful with a welcoming lounge and dining area with cosy fireplaces. The kitchen is a great meeting place where we took turns to cook delicious Italian meals with the amazing produce available locally, while drinking wine which we picked up from a local vineyard. Most days we managed to find a different place to sit down for dinner either on the terrace in front or behind the main villa, on the large concrete table by the cabana, by the pool or having a picnic in the woods down the hill. The bedrooms are stylishly decorated some with ensuite bathrooms. The view from the main bedroom's bathroom over the beautiful Tuscany countryside is to die for! After a long day wandering around Florence or Siena (both of which are easily reachable by car) having a nice soak looking out over this view was the best way to relax. The Villa is luxurious and stylish but also has a home from home feel (though it is a lot nicer than my home!!!)

We spent our days lazing by the salt-water pool which is lined with olive trees and exploring the beautiful local scenery (you need to be a bit fit as it's quite hilly in parts but worth the effort). As well as Siena and Florence with their wonderful architecture and fab restaurants we flew into Pisa so managed a trip to the leaning tower all in one holiday.

We're already plotting our return visit!

This time in Scopeto - Diesmal in Scopeto

  • 5 of 5

Who is the One, seeking quietness instead of the hectic everyday life in office and also at home? This one really wants to sleep into the day without any disturbance and just live into the day, like it was in the old days. He really doesn‘t want to see nor hear of any strangers to disturb him. He just wants to pop up, when he likes it, and looks for his secret retreat, that no other one knows of.

That‘s like it is in Scopeto! If you want it, you can be in half an hour on the Campo in Siena or in some more than an hour to Florence, just by car. You got a wonderfull, undisturbed view high up in the mountains of the Chianti, a lovely pool and a fine house for the holidays of the year. There‘s enough room for the plenty of Your‘s, but also a place to retire from the busy world.

What is the price for it? The one, who likes it busy, will be at bore. The one, who wants an easy access, will curse the long and weary road. But the one, who is in the need to find Himself, he will come again and again.

Philipp from Leipzig

Lovely house but a few problems.

  • 4 of 5

This is a very nice house indeed with amazing views. The location is so quiet and peaceful with not another house or building in sight. It has the best equipped kitchen we have experienced in a house for this number of people. Plenty of pots, pans and utensils to cook for a large number. The swimming pool is delightful although it was lacking enough sun beds when we were there in June. I believe the owner intends to buy more.

The house was not quite as clean as we would have liked, particularly as the end of rental cleaning was on the expensive side at 95 Euros for a party of 7.

The local town of Gaiole in Chianti which is about 20 minutes away is lovely and has everything one might need in terms of shopping and places to eat. There is a small supermarket, an excellent butcher, a couple of delis, a very good greengrocer and a chemist. Radda, which is a bit further away is also a very nice little town and has good shopping facilities including a larger supermarket.

One thing you need to beware of when you book your car hire is that the road down to the house from the main road is unmade (about 2 - 3 kms) and can be very difficult in a small car. The owner does warn you about this when you get the final information prior to the rental period but we booked our car rental before we were aware of the state of the road. One of our cars was a Ford Focus and was fine but the other car was a Fiat Punto which was lower and we ended up damaging the undercarriage of the car (which the car rental insurance does not cover!).

We really enjoyed eating at home most evenings watching the gorgeous sunsets but if you want an excellent dinner out one evening the Bottega del Trenta is a very special place to go. It's about 25 minutes away.

Wunderschöne Anlage

  • 4 of 5

Look at the map and imagine a point in the centre of a triangle Arezzo, Siena and Florence: three great Italian Renaissance cities, their treasures, markets, restaurants, spaces and events beckon guests from Podere Scopeto. Nearer at hand, the great houses of our area hold frequent concerts, the markets towns, gems like Radda, Volpaia, Castellina, Greve offer their summer fieste, wineries with thier world-famous labels invite you to sample their wine and new olive oil . Hikers, bicyclists and horse riders can make thier own way along the high level paths and rides of the Chianti hills savouring the pine scented breezes. As one of our guests said last year: 'We have been in paradise'.

Other Activities: wine tasting and gastronomy.
