Getting away from it all
We had a great stay in El Toril. This is the perfect place if you want to escape, unwind, and get away from it all. If rustic and off the beaten track are your thing, then you're in for a treat. Don't expect fancy and frills, do expect peace and tranquility. Anne and David are fantastic hosts and went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. Would highly recommend the drive to the beaches past Nerja - they are some of the best we've ever been to. Would also recommend plenty of bug spray if you're staying when it's super hot as the mosquitos were out in force. We had a great time and will definitely be visiting this part of Spain again.

They were prompt in responding to our inquiries and provided us with all the necessary information before our arrival. They were readily available throughout our stay, making themselves accessible for any questions or concerns we had. Their clear and effective communication enhanced our overall experience and made us feel well taken care of.

Stunning views and great hosts
We spent a relaxing week at Casa Rosina. The villa is lovely, well equipped, with plenty of space for all 6 of us. The surrounding area is beautiful. The hosts Anne and David are brilliant and so helpful recommending local places, sorting out car hire and generally making sure you have everything you need. They even came to our rescue when we had a puncture. It’s the perfect place to get away from it all. The pool is definitely needed in the summer and we all enjoyed cooling off in it and the Wi-Fi was good enough to keep 4 teenagers happy. A great stay enjoyed by all.

Peacefull and perfect
Thank you Anne & David for all your support before and during our stay at casa rosina. The house is situated in a small village in the mountains - very quiet and peacefull. Anne & David had made sure that everything was ready for our arrival and that there was coffee, butter, sugar, oil, toilet paper, etc. So Nice - Anna & David are the best hostes you coulis ever g’et. The pool and the suroundings was just perfect and we enjoyed the lovely house. Unfortunately there were so many mosquitoes that we couldn't stay outside in the morning and evening. We tried all kinds of mosquito repellents but we got so many bites. The area is perfect if you like the nature and hiking. We recommend the national parks and a visit to the Old town in Malaga.

About the host

Originally from Scotland we came to live in this lovely part of Spain to have a more peaceful life, to learn a new language and experience the Spanish culture. We love living here and have adopted 4 dogs (or rather they adopted us!) as you can see from our picture above taken outside our house which is only 15 minutes from Casa Rosina.

Why they chose this property

We had never been to Spain before a friend told us what a great place Spain is to live. So we came in 2000, fell in love with the Axarquia area and quickly bought our house and the following year bought Casa Rosina to rent out. We love having people from all over Europe come stay and we try our best to make their holiday as good as it can possibly be. Casa Rosina is set in such tranquil surroundings of the mountain hamlet and we enjoy meeting everyone who comes to stay. The nearby villages of Periana and Alcaucin are full of great tapas bars and restaurants and friendly Spanish locals who are very gracious in helping us with our Spanish!

What makes this property unique

Casa Rosina is ideally situated in a small traditional hamlet surrounded by olive groves and fabulous wide open views to the lake and Mediterranean sea.The hillside goats come through the village daily and drink from the village fountain and then wend their way on down the tracks to other hamlets and olive groves. It is truly a place to unwind, read a book by the pool in the shade of the fig tree and get away from the hurly burly of life. When we first saw the house we fell in love with the stable gated front door which leads into the spacious house opening up to rooms on different levels. The winding staircase takes you up to the top floor with the lovely big master bedroom with great views down to the sea.

The large downstairs bedroom opens out into the front terrace - a perfect place for breakfast or just relaxing and reading a book. The house is large enough so that there is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space.

We sometimes have a few days there ourselves to enjoy the pool and the lovely views!
