Little private garden, large terrace, parking, unique location, seaview

This spacious apartment is situated on the cliffs of the famous Mont Boron Mountain, Cap de Nice on the east side of Nice. The apartment 'hangs' over the cliff and affords stunning views from all rooms over the Mediterranean, from the lighthouse in VilleFranche to the coastline of Nice all the way to Antibes. The apartment has two master bedrooms each with double beds. The large cool lounge opens on to a 30 metre terrace and small garden. Unique to this property is a private elevator to street level from where you can walk to the beach or town with reliable bus services in either direction.

This peaceful location is perfect for enjoying the cities, beaches, the mountains and most of all the stunning views of the Mediterranean. A perfect rental.

Owner's Response: Mary I am pleased that you enjoyed the beautiful views of the apartment and the space of the apartment. For your next stay, if you want to avoid the stairs there is an elevator just next to the apartment that brings you right down to the main street and right to the supermarket. But I imagine you chose the stairs as you wanted to enjoy the beautiful views. I do apologize for extra day it took to fix the shutter as it broke on a bank holiday. Regards the owner

Beautiful villa just as described

  • 4 of 5

As advertised. The views over the Mediterranean really are that stunning. The villa has a modern minimal esthetic and it is well appointed: comfortable beds, room darkening shades in bedrooms, modern baths, nice workable kitchen.

Don’t miss the waterfront. You take (a lot of) stairs down to the seaside cliffs. It’s a great spot for a picnic and there is a seaside trail in both directions. There in a big, very well stocked grocery store just a block away. Across from it, you will find the path to the beach, the bus stop and the best pizza place in town.

The villa is on the quiet side of town. I recommend it for people who like to walk. The Mount Boron park is right behind it. It is a half hour down hill to the Port which adjoins the old town which you don‘t want to miss. But it is a half hour uphill coming back. Take the bus.

There is a private elevator that takes you down three stories. There will still be a couple of stories of stairs but the view from the patio is worth it.

All-in-all a lovely rental. And Pam was very patient with us.

Lovely Views, Character, Some Flaws

  • 5 of 5

Overall this is a fabulous apartment that will leave you with vivid memories of your stay. It's worth the experience. We've stayed in luxury apartments in the city, the old town, and here, and this has our most vivid memories. The view is lovely, and if you like nature, it's a very short walk until you're in the forest park of Mt Boron. However, there are some drawbacks the apartment. A pro and con list is probably best.

Pros:

- One of the few places in Nice with memorable views for not-ridiculous prices

- Large supermarket just down the road.

- A very peaceful, quiet sanctuary type of feel. The outdoor garden area is lovely

- As close as you'll get to Mt Boron and its extensive parks and glorious views over Villefranche-sur-Mer.

- Very well equipped (especially the kitchen) and has a modern/upscale vibe

- Located in a very charming and grand hillside holiday complex for the well-to-do of many years ago. All of the quirks and wow factor of such a place.

- Manager is very helpful and reliable

Cons:

- Even though it's generously sized, the apartment feels small/the bedrooms feel too close. You can get a much larger apartment in the city or old town with a more spacious feel for less, and with French charm.

- Layout of the lounge is terrible for entertainment. TV is tiny (like many in France, but still).

- Quite a distance from everything. Compared to the convenience of just walking out your door in the city proper and being in the atmosphere of Nice, coming and going here is quite an ordeal. Lots of stairs, lots of key operated doors, a long walk to the car, two bus changes if you're taking public transport, issues with parking, and when it rains, water runs all over the lift and drips from the ceilings. Even though it's close on the map, you're effectively a minimum of 45 minutes away from the city centre in this apartment. And that's with your own car.

- The beach, while also close on a map, is also a long arduous walk.

- The view is mostly of a cliff and some of the ocean. Nicer views are just glimpses.

Overall this is a beautiful and memorable experience, especially as a couple's retreat, and I highly recommend the apartment. But it's not for everyone.

Owner's Response: Thank you rating your stay with a maximum of five stars. We are very pleased that you enjoyed the beautiful and quite area of Mont Boron and the beautiful views of the apartment with the little garden. The apartment is 130 square meter large and the bedrooms around 25 square meter both with a view overlooking the sea. For your next stay, please be advised that: There is a bus service running every ten minutes down in front of the apartment (bus 100) that will take you to the city center in 10-15 minutes. Walking to the city center takes around 35 minutes and is a beautiful walk. There are two parking options– one in the gated community of the apartment and one in a closed garage just next door. When leaving the apartment you can either take the elevator which brings you directly down to the main street where you find the bus service or take the stairs for exercise. The elevator has just been renovated. Three options for the beach – just down in front of the apartment hidden away in the beautiful cliffs taking the path down by Palais Maeterlinck with beautiful views and quietness, at the Promenade or at Villefrance with sandy beaches

Great views, great apartment, great location

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time we stayed and we looked forward to the apartment and particularly the views all year. The views from the garden and the apartment are spectacular - you can see from the old port of Nice to the entrance of Villefranche harbour. During the week we walked to Villefranche and you get great views of the harbour as you walk in from the Nice direction. Also we discovered a safe, cliff walk in the other direction which gives great views of the old port of Nice as you approach.

The supermarket is just at the bottom of a handy lift so the apartment is ideal for self-catering. The flat is well equipped with everything you will need. As you cook your evening meal you look out the blue Mediterranean. The port with its wide choice of good restaurants is a walk or a short bus ride away.

Pam is very helpful and available for advice on the apartment or local services such as the taxis. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and look forward to experiencing 'our' Mont Boron apartment again in the future.

Mont Boron, Nice

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at Mont Boron with our daughter for a much- anticipated holiday. This beautiful home did not disappoint. The stylish furnishings in the living area, the comprehensively equipped kitchen, the well appointed bathrooms and bedrooms all contributed to a most comfortable stay.

We watched the sun come up and set from the picture windows and enjoyed the garden and terrace throughout the day , enhanced by the scent of orange blossom and jasmine.

We were able to travel into town easily via several nearby bus routes. There is a supermarket within walking distance.

We enjoyed the proximity of local parkland for walking opportunities and magnificent views.

The nearby church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour is worth a visit for its lovely interior . The church seems to be open most days, although not for mass. Mass is on Sunday at 11 o'clock.

We had a great holiday and would recommend Mont Boronn to our friends and family.

Just to the rear of the apartment lies the beautiful area of the Mont- Boron Mountain where you can go jogging/walking in the shady forests following the little paths taking you up to the old castle which affords beautiful views over VilleFranche, Cap Ferrat and Nice. Five minutes walk from the apartment you will find an excellent supermarket (open 7/7) and a local grocer. Further towards the old Port, there are restaurants, bakeries, pharmacies etc. There is a little path and stairs in front of the apartment which takes you down to the sea and the rocks - an area that is tranquil and very beautiful from where you can go bathing or follow the coastal path to Nice. There is a choice of various beaches within walking distance – either in front of the apartment (15min), at Nice (35 min) or VilleFranche (15 min). For those that prefer to take public transportation there is a bus stop not far from the apartment that takes you to downtown Nice or to the Central train station.
