Beach House with superb sea view 50m from the beach - No need for a car

We have recently returned from Venta Lanuza having holidayed there for one week. We stayed in this nicely furnished and well-kept two bedroom house with our two children. The house is one of a number of modern houses in a holiday complex with a swimming pool. The local beach is within view of the house and is a very short walk to reach. It is in a cove and is very good for swimming, with a lifeguard service and beach bar. The beach equipment readily available in the house, i.e. beach mats, chairs and sun umbrella were very useful to have.
The air conditioning in the house both upstairs and downstairs was very reliable. The house was very well equipped with all the necessary cooking utensils. The house was well kept and prepared for our arrival. The patio area was very relaxing, while the house is situated in a complex, it offered terrific privacy.
The location of the house is quite amenable to other villages and towns and it is not necessary to hire a car as there is a tram station just at the back of the house. The trams travel half hourly to each of the coastal towns and villages while the fare is very reasonable. They are very comfortable, modern, air conditioned and are most reliable in time schedule.
Our children greatly enjoyed the holiday and for them the nearness to the beach was a big factor. This holiday home met our needs and we were most satisfied with it, it was also very useful to have the washing machine in the utility room and another plus was having the downstairs toilet.
Jan, the owner was lovely to deal with and gave us a lot of local information and some very good tips on activities, restaurants and places to see. She gave us a contact number for a pick up and drop off driver service for the airport at an additional but reasonable cost. This was most convenient and helpful. The area was very safe and peaceful, we certainly had a very relaxing, enjoyable and refreshing holiday.

This apartment is situated in a very quiet area. The apartment itself was ok with a nice little TV, well functioning air condition and 2 toilets. The furnishing was simple and tasty, and you got that spanish feeling entering the apartment. The parking area was right outside the enterence door which is practical in many ways. We met some nice neighbours which provided us with some really helpful information and even lent us some anti-ants powder, a necessecity which should have been in the apartment's store, because there were ants everywhere before cleaning the place.

The apartment was regardly very poor cleaned at our arrival, an unecessary experience in 2012. Espacially the kitchen was not in order - we had to wash everything from glasses to knives and forks, pans and all koocing ware which was all covered with fat, food and fingerprints... The surfaces in the oven were burned black, and it was not very delicious to use for cooking. The floors had not been cleaned. We also missed some standard equipment (garbage bags, some spices in the kitchen, toilet paper...) and that some of the drawers and the closets were empty and ready for our use.

Except from that the beds were nice, the bathroom ok but all the rooms are quite small. The terrace was ok, but we missed a view to the beatuiful sea just 100 m from the apartment. The sandy beach is excellent, and the water clear and warm. The sun umbrella was fine. There is no shower on the beach, but there is a foot shower.

The pool area was ok but small. We didn't spend much time there since we did not want to disturb the close situated neighbours to the pool.

It is possible to stay here without a car. But, in our opinion it is very useful to have a car because there are no offers and very few activities in Venta Lanuza. Be also aware of the pictures which are not really representative - there are two big not finished apartment buildings which offers the "sea view" from the balcony, which is sad and spooky. The view would otherwise have been great.

So; this is an apartment which offers a minimum for your money. It's close to Benidorm and Alicante which offers nice beaches, restaurants, shopping possibilities and much more. The surrounding area is ok and the apartment ok, the local area not 100 %. But, there are thousands of apartments in Spain at the same low cost which offers a higher standard at the same cost.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Venta Lanuza during the last week of October. Customer service was excellent, with prompt and helpful replies from Jan to all of our emails.
We normally hire a car when on holiday but, this time, we used the extremely reliable transfer service provided by Jan’s contact and, for the rest of the week, we made full use of the tram which runs quietly behind the complex from Alicante to Denia. We really enjoyed travelling up and down the coast. The trams ran every twenty minutes and were very reasonable. Just don’t forget to press the stop request button when Venta Lanuza is announced!
Jan’s house is part of a terrace at the lower end of this small, well-kept, gated and secure complex. The house is extremely clean and brightly-furnished. We were lucky to be the first visitors to benefit from the new lounge furniture which had just arrived. Upstairs (street level at the back) there are two front bedrooms which have uninterrupted sea views.
As the weather was still warm, we were able to relax on the pretty patio where the sun shone all day – most days! It was incredibly peaceful, especially as many houses on the complex weren’t occupied that week.
In the dark evenings, we were able to eat in the well-equipped kitchen area and enjoy Sky TV. There’s an excellent Spanish bar just over the main road at the back where we had some tasty tapas. Just down from the apartment is the Jet Set bar (British run).
El Campello is a nice town to visit and has a good Mercadona quite near the tram station. There is a small shop at the top end of Venta Lanuza, but it’s about a twenty minute walk, uphill, and it was only open until 2pm every day.
We returned home relaxed and refreshed after a lovely week. It’s an area we will visit again soon and we can certainly recommend Jan’s place to anyone who likes a peaceful, relaxing holiday with plenty to see and do within a short travelling time.
