Mansfield is a mountain township nestled into the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, a mountain range that follows the east coast of Australia from Queensland to Victoria. It's located among stunning mountain scenery and is a popular base for those travelling to the Victorian ski fields of Mount Buller and Mount Stirling, making it a foremost tourist town and a vibrant commercial centre.

A Holiday Steeped In Australian History

Mansfield accommodation allows you to holiday in an area rich in Australian history. The town itself was first settled in 1846 as a camp for drovers driving stock along the Mansfield stock route. In 1874 Australia's most notorious bushranger, Ned Kelly, worked there as a local timber logger after his initial release from prison. The town has many historical buildings and beautiful tree-lined boulevards leading to the town centre where you can see the large marble monument, built in 1880 in memory of a group of policemen killed by the Kelly Gang in the nearby Wombat Ranges.
