With the Sunshine Coast boasting more than 65km of pure golden beaches, Maroochydore is home to almost half of that, with unspoilt stretches of seemingly never ending white sand and sea perfection.
A hugely popular destination, Maroochydore caters for all sorts of holiday makers, with holiday apartments, self-catering, villa rentals and virtually every type of holiday accommodation there is. Tucked away quietly amongst the sand dunes, the holiday accommodation in Maroochydore is the perfect place for visitors to begin their holiday journey, as they head out to explore the rest of Queensland from here.
Particularly well appointed to host holiday makers with limited mobility, Maroochydore is extremely well organized, with many access points for wheel chairs and the like, in all of the beach walkways, boardwalks and nature reserve areas, within a stone’s throw away from your holiday accommodation. Pet-friendly and family-friendly options are also plentiful in the area.
Kite surfing is very popular here, and the Maroochy River Mouth is a haven for this exhilarating board sport. The river mouth used to be the home of a huge mill, from where locals shipped timber to Brisbane aboard a paddle steamer, many years ago.
As an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise, Maroochydore offers something for the entire family and the serious adrenalin junkie will be spoiled for choice. No matter who you are, your age, your ability (or disability), you are able to experience some incredible views and excitement by taking part in a tandem skydives over Coolum Beach. An alternative, but still exciting, is to hire a jet ski from The Wharf Complex Mooloolaba, and race around the bay under the watchful eye of your instructor.
Take the kids to the Top Shots Fun Park and they can play mini golf, climb indoor rock walls, play in the game arcade, roar around on the blaster boats, spray each other with water spray guns, (take a towel!) and get rid of their energy bouncing up and down on the Extreme Vertical Trampoline.
You can also feed them afterwards at the Fun Parks Fast Food Café, and if they are not completely exhausted, you can take them to the Superbee Honey factory. If you spent all your money at the fun park, don’t worry, the Superbee is free. They can check out a live bee demo, play another round of mini golf and ride the merry go rounds, drive the bumper cars and feed the lorikeets.
The strip of coastal towns along the Sunshine coast is warm and humid. The warm sea water regulates the air temperatures, preventing the high temperature experience of the more inland and northern areas. During the summer months expect air temperatures of between 28 C/ 82 F, with high percentages of humidity and at least 5 days rain out of every month.
Winters are dry and mild with temperatures around 19 C/ 67 F. Pack light summer weather gear but don’t worry, your holiday accommodation will be well organized to manage the temperatures so don’t overload your luggage with any unnecessary gear.
