The southern Gold Coast is home to the glorious surfer’s paradise, Mermaid Beach. Just around an 85km drive from Brisbane, along the Gold Coast Oceanway, the magnificent beachfront town is a perfect holiday getaway destination. If you are willing to part with a few extra bucks, you could find yourself in a sensational holiday villa in one of the holiday rentals along millionaire’s mile, where holiday accommodation takes an indulgent turn.
The never ending stretches of pristine beach, crystal clear water and spectacular sunsets make holiday makers forget about the strain and stresses of modern life as the ice melts in their cocktail and the sea waves lap against the shore.
The holiday accommodations have a reputation for being absolutely superb; many of the holiday rentals along the beach are self- contained holiday rentals, complete with every modern bell and whistle you could possibly think of.
Beach home rentals have gorgeous well attended gardens, barbecue facilities and some of the holiday accommodation even comes with your own private pool. Simply the most rejuvenating holiday destination for the entire family, as you can literally smell the sea from the balcony of your gorgeous Gold Coast holiday home.
There may be no better way to kick start your seaside holiday, than by visiting the Mermaid Beach Surf Lifesaving Club, and grab a hearty breakfast while the sand sinks between your toes and the view of the Pacific is your revolving backdrop.
The aquatic adventures are a plenty, and the surfing in abundance as the waves are truly some of the best in the world for surfing. If you don’t surf (gasp) don’t worry, you can go wake-boarding, swimming, diving, fishing, parasailing or grab a jet-ski and jet about the bay.
Most of the activities are within walking distance from all of the holiday accommodations, and you need not bring your own equipment, you can rent it all along the beach. Rather save space in your luggage for all the presents you are going to take home, rather than lugging a wake board miles and miles over the ocean.
Kurrawa Beach is home to the Australian Surf Life-Saving Championships and Broadbeach is where you can get some serious retail therapy and stop for refreshments at one of the many excellent restaurants and cafes along the way.
You can jump on the monorail, and zip along to Jupiters Casino, where you can take some of your hard earned money and have some fun with it, or you could take your money across the road to the Pacific Fair, a massive shopping centre, and leisurely stroll through all the local shops and restaurants. You can then, just catch the monorail back to your holiday villa, in time to catch the sunset and a relaxing cocktail.
The sub-tropical region of Queensland does have a varied climate, depending on whether you are on the coast or more inland. Mermaid Beach has a temperate climate, warm and humid, even in winter. Expect temperatures of around 28 C / 82 F in summer and about 15 degrees cooler in winter. Summer rainfall is prominent in January, which is the middle of summer as the winter months fall between May and October.
Be assured that all the holiday accommodation rentals will be equipped to deal with the weather, and that when the humidity is really high and there is the pitter patter of rain outside, you can relax indoors, in the comfort of your holiday home on the beach, under the cool breeze of the air conditioning and wait for the cloud burst to pass.
