A wide range of holiday accommodation exists along the beachfront, making it ideal for visitors with a passion for the seaside. The beach is unpatrolled, however lifeguards are sent from Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club to Moffat Beach during peak holiday times to promote safe bathing. Beach fishing is also popular and can be an activity taken up during the evening or early morning with fish such as bream being regularly caught.

Additionally, with a strong southeast swell, Moffat offers a long spilling right-hand wave that is popular with long-board riders. Body boarders have been known to ride the shore break, which can get quite heavy on a high tide. A 20 minute paddle straight out will get an experienced surfer to Caloundra reef where they can ride some amazing waves.
The most significant landmark that Moffat Beach offers is the headland where many holiday apartments are present. Along with a local shopping centre located close by, there are cafes, a post office, a newsagent, parkland and residential housing.
