The Ocean Beach, however, is known to have stronger undercurrents and is best suited to those who enjoy water sports, such as surfing, kayaking or playing on jet skis. Away from the ocean, you can visit Rye's naturally occurring hot springs, which are always approximately 50 degrees Celsius and are said to have amazing rejuvenating effects on the body.
Golfers, Hit the Links
When packing for your holiday to Rye, make sure to bring along your golf clubs, as there are two high-class links golf courses in the area. Moonah Links is a par 72 course that offers two distinct world-class courses, one known as the Open Course and the other called the Legends Course. Once you complete the two courses of Moonah Links, head on over to The Dunes Golf Links. As the name would suggest, this course is built on sand dunes and offers 18 challenging holes; however, The Dunes also features a smaller course with nine holes, which is ideal for beginners or to get you warmed up for the day.

While your husband is on the course, treat yourself to a great time. Take advantage of the hot springs even further by visiting Peninsula Hot Springs spa. While there, take in the breathtaking scenery; get pampered with massages, manicures and more; and enjoy specialty food and homemade juice. After your spa day, indulge in some delicious local wine at Cups Estate Winery, which offers a variety of award-winning bottles and a vast menu filled with tapas, cheese, desserts, salads and more. There are many other wineries along the Mornington Peninsula, and while it is easy to travel between them on your own, there are also luxury car tours available to shuttle you between the destinations.
Take in the Sights
When visiting a scenic destination such as Rye, it is important to take in your surroundings. If you do not feel like being constrained to a vehicle while doing your exploring, try a trail ride with Gunnamatta Trail Rides. The weather in Rye is comfortable throughout most of the year; with that being said, the summers are known to reach temperatures of 26 C and beyond. For a summer holiday, visit during the months of December, January or February. Winter holidays are cooler, with an average temperature of 15 C but there is still plenty to do.
