Holiday Accommodation in St. Andrews Beach, Mornington Peninsula, Australia

The tiny seaside village of St. Andrews Beach is a quiet coastal hideaway, just outside of Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula. A small part of a 35km strip of pristine beachfront that starts at Cape Schank and runs all the way to Portsea, it is a heavenly part of the world, and a closely guarded paradise by the handful of locals that live there permanently. Popular among surfers and golfers, holiday accommodation and holiday homes are popping all throughout the town. Golfing holidays are in abundance with holiday accommodation right on the golf course or very close by.

Things to See and Do

Golf

With more than 6 spectacular golf courses in the region, it is a literal golfer’s paradise. Because of the unusual topography, the area is a prime golfing region with its sprawling grassy sand dunes. With some of Australia’s top golf courses, and with more than 2 of them being in the top 9 out of all the courses in Australia, golfers can expect to have some of their best rounds ever.

Horse Riding

Ever wanted to ride along the seaside with the waves lapping at the horse’s feet? Or ride through the thick natural brush with the sound of the waves to keep you company or canter along through the waves, like a movie star? Well the horse riding at St. Andrews beach will give you all of that. Even if you are a complete novice, you can book a lesson with experienced staff that will be there to guide you, and most importantly put you on a horse that suits you and your riding skills. Suitable for all ages, so drag those grumpy teenagers away from your holiday rental and get them out in the fresh air.

Fishing Trips

Book a fishing trip with one of the experienced fishing charter tour companies in the area. All the gear is provided and included in the price as well as bait and all the other fishing paraphernalia. Sail out in the morning or the afternoon and enjoy a half day tour through the bay, fishing on hand lines and getting to know the ins and outs of fishing on the open sea. A light tea and snack will be provided and in the summer time they will take you out for a twilight tour. It’s suitable for kids and adults of all ages, and what’s better than taking your catch back to your holiday villa to cook it yourself.

Day Spa

While Dad and the kids are out catching fish and sailing on the sea, why not treat Mom and the rest of the ladies in the family to a day out at the day spa. With more than 4 glorious spas in the area, pamper yourself with massages, pedicures, hot stone treatments, hot spring baths and wraps. Enjoy a light lunch at the restaurants and just take time out for yourself.

Climate

St. Andrews Beach has the coveted combination of pristine, safe and secluded beaches as well as an enviable climate to match. Cool and temperate the gentle sea breeze keeps the heat of the summer away and day time temperatures during the summer months of October to April reach about 27C. The pleasant although cool winter months bring day time temperatures of about 15C, making it the perfect time to book your holiday accommodation all year round. The town tends to be busier over holiday periods, so if you don’t like so many people, the best time would be to go out of season.

Getting there from the UK

St Andrews Beach is a short 90 minute drive from the main city centre of Melbourne, Victoria. All of the major international airlines have regular routes directly into the city. A local Australian airline could give you a better deal on a return flight, just shop around and don’t forget to book your car hire at the same time. The stunning drive along the Mornington Peninsula coastline will be a small road trip on the way to your holiday home right on the beachfront.
