Between the two busy top tourist towns of Kaikoura and Hanmer Springs you’ll find the unique log chalet village of Mt Lyford, peaceful and tranquil yet bursting with outdoor opportunities.
Today I went for a horse ride up the mountain. Our guide took us up to the mystical Lake Crystal where my poor horse could recover from our ride while we were having a scrumptious picnic. Now I’m relaxing my protesting muscles in the spa under the sparkling stars. Inside the chalet my chilled wine is waiting in front of the fireplace. The kids are knocked out, sound asleep under the puffy duvets. They explored the Wandle River today, having an awesome adventure walking through thick native bush and over daunting scree slopes. These little daredevils then mountain biked down the steep track back home.
Waking up here in the morning all you hear is the native birds singing and the creek gurgling. This is a spot with real privacy and space to effectively unwind. Still, we will have our ‘tourist-trip’ to Kaikoura tomorrow but I can’t wait to get back to this haven of tranquility called Mt. Lyford.
Maybe you should come and discover the unique holiday homes in Mt. Lyford yourself. I’m sad my holiday here is over but I feel totally recharged and ready to head back into real life. Satisfied with a holiday experience that the whole family has extremely enjoyed.
