We recently returned from the most wonderful family get away that we've had in quite some time, at Serenity Halls Gap. My son said of our time at Serenity, " I loved it. There was so much to do". My daughter said, "It was magical, I didn't want to leave."
At Serenity, The Gampians National Park is, literally, in your backyard. Kookaburras and kangaroos welcomed us on arrival, and stayed close by all weekend. The house was so comfortable and well appointed, and it fits perfectly into this natural landscape.
We lit the fire as soon as we arrived and stayed toasty warm during the whole of our stay.
The kids couldn't wait to get the outdoor fire going too. It was one of the highlights for them! The adults sipped wine around it, we toasted marshmallows, baked bananas filled with chocolate one night, and the next night we baked potatoes.
On Saturday we went for a spectacular walk to Clematis falls and then Chatauqua Peak, again accessed from the back yard. This was a highlight for me. The quietness of the bush, the smells, the sound of the falls, the ancient landscape, the precious chatting between parents and children ...priceless.
On Sunday we went to the Halls Gap Zoo. This was such fun. We booked the children into an encounter with the meerkats, and it was well worth it. The look of sheer joy on our children's faces as the cheeky meerkats scrambled over them was delightful! We also fed the deer, patted dingos, we're amazed by the 2 giraffes, and wandered around for hours.
We would recommend Serenity Halls Gap to any family who is craving quality family time. We left all electronic devices at home, we barely watched any TV and the kids were not bored for a second. Isn't this every parent's dream? We talked, we laughed, we let the kids explore, we felt at one with nature, we ate well and slept well. In a word, perfection.
Thanks Serenity Team, Vicki and Julian
