After staying 2 nights at Longstocking Farm I highly recommend it. It is in a serene location amongst orange orchards few minutes outside of Waikerie, a town as beautiful as any in the Riverland. The house is brand new, fully furnished, air-conditioned and has facilities for babies and kids. There's a collection of DVDs, books and games. Linen is supplied as are tea, coffee, cereal, cordial and some other condiments. There is a keypad to unlock the door - no keys to lose. From this base I was able to travel to all the major towns in the Riverland and home again in one afternoon. I would recommend staying longer if you can - spend a day or two exploring the towns, a day or two playing on the Murray and a day or two just at the house soaking up the peace and quiet. Sun streamed into the lounge and master bedroom, keeping them toasty on the chilly mornings when I was there. If you leave the door open in the bathroom you can even shower overlooking the orchards, the sweet smell of orange blossoms drifting in. Being a new house there's not much outside yet, but there is a clothesline and a pit for campfires. It is right next to the Waikerie golf course. The price was good for the standard of accommodation and the owners were lovely to deal with and very helpful. If you want a real holiday 'in the country' you could do much worse than this place - right near the recreational facilities of Waikerie but private and away from traffic and noise. I'll be back!
