Great Holidays in Little Cove

When the British or Europeans decide to have a mega holiday, it used to be the US that they flocked to. Nowadays though, they are willing to travel much further away to Australia to find that dream holiday of a lifetime. Australia is a vast continent for sure and one of the destinations that is becoming more popular, is in Little Cove on the Sunshine Coast, as the area is known.

Where is Little Cove?

Located just a short hop from Brisbane, where all the leading airlines of the world land, Little Cove is in the same general area as Noosa. Here the beaches tend to face north, an unusual aspect for sure, so that the bays are protected from storms etc. Little Cove is right on the side of the National Park, with its resident Koalas, and it looks out over Laguna Bay with its sparkling waters. In fact, from here too the tourist hot spot of Hastings Street is clearly visible and is only a short walk away.

Getting Out and About

There is much to do in this area which is probably why it is so popular with tourists. The Everglades is not far away and people can kayak up the river or take day trips in tourist boats. Visiting the lakes is also on the menu as is superb food served at the appropriate times.

For the surfing fraternity there is enough swell to keep even the experts happy and, along with the attendant sea life on view, whales can be seen quite often. For the novice, there is personal coaching and up to six day packages on offer which comes with all the quality equipment that one would expect from a surfing nation. Those who surf off the North Shore area are quite likely to be swimming with the dolphins!

Twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the nearby Eumundi Markets are open and visitors can mingle with the locals to buy arts and crafts or food. Many musicians flock the area too so this is quite an interesting day out for all the family.

Anyone who wants to go a little wild could well do with booking the 4WD Eco Tour to see the sand dunes, rainforests to see the other exotic creatures that Australia is renowned for. Try a little fishing too in the river or deep sea. Or how about taking a camel safari through the bush and along the beach?

Where to Stay

Little Cove, as its name would suggest, is a family oriented place with many different styles of holiday accommodation to suit all pockets. Self contained accommodation or private holiday villas, holiday homes or serviced apartments, caravan parks or camping grounds etc, all are here within the area.

Whether it is luxury housing or a down to earth approach to accommodation in Little Cove, it will be found. There is no real winter in this part of the world either so visitors arrive all the time. In fact, the general area receives almost two million visitors a year so there is always something going on.

Precautions

The only downside to this wonderfully exotic place is that some of the beaches have some unruly waters. Rip tides and strong currents could catch the unaware off guard. Therefore, don’t swim where there are no lifeguards and only swim between the flags if this is appropriate.

Likewise, pack something light for the cooler months but this will only be a sweater or cardigan and nothing more. As this part of the world is on the opposite end of the globe from Europe, cooler months will fall around June or July or thereabouts. However, by European standards, this is still quite warm.

Book holiday accommodation in Little Cove in advance, and transfers from Brisbane if appropriate, when booking flights to Australia to save on time after a long flight.
