    An unspoilt gem

Boomerang Beach is situated on the New South Wales’s North Coast, near the main village of Smith’s Lake. Its beach is one of the most unspoilt along the coast and hugely popular with both surfers and families, keen to enjoy the slow pace of life in this untouched part of the world.

Only a half hour’s drive from the Pacific Highway that connects the region’s main city of Newcastle with Sydney, Boomerang Beach enjoys the benefits of being close enough to the city for travellers while maintaining its aura of being untouched by modern life. As the main industry locally is tourism, there is an excellent variety of holiday accommodation available, including apartments, villas and houses. Many are situated near to the beach with wonderful ocean views and direct access to the beautiful beach.

The surf is, in fact, the main draw for visitors heading to Boomerang Beach and the consistent conditions mean surfers can take to the water at both low and high tide. Be warned – sharks are known to be in the waters off Boomerang Beach so take care at all times.

While small, Boomerang Beach does have local shops and food outlets, while the neighbouring towns of Smiths Lake and Blueys Beach have a bigger selection of retail outlets.

Another excellent visit is to Sugar Creek Flora Reserve. Head for Seal Rocks and the Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse that has been guiding sailors away from the treacherous rocks since 1875.
