Beautiful Magenta for an Exciting Holiday

Magenta is just ninety minutes out of Sydney by car so this place not only sees foreign tourists, it gets a healthy dose of locals coming here too. There is accommodation to suit all pockets, including cozy bed and breakfast places, or high end rental holiday homes depending on what is needed.

Since it is right on the coast, it is easy to find if coming by road, and those who hire a car can then explore the interior a little under their own steam. There are also other places to visit, like The Entrance, Noraville and Canton Beach, if a change of scenery is required.

    Things to Do Here

It would seem that the golf course here was actually designed by an architect who saw an opportunity to put one on the golden sands near The Entrance. Because of the increasing building going on, the course had to be created in narrow corridors and sand dunes which make it really exciting to play on.

Not far away are the National Parks walks, so that the family can get out and burn off some energy and, for those retail therapy trips, The Entrance has boutiques, markets and art galleries for everyone to enjoy.

Of course, a beach holiday here would not be complete without some swimming, kayaking or sailing. Fishing is good too from the shore or further out on a boat charter. No need to bring gear because all of it will be on hire. Find the kayaking and boating at Terrigal and the beach at Avoca. To round off a perfect day, try some exquisite food and wine in the nearby world class restaurants and cafes.

For those who need an adrenalin rush, try a spot of hot air ballooning to get a bird’s eye view of the world below. People have to be up very early for this one but the cooler morning air is a welcome relief from the coming heat of the day. The scenery is breathtaking with views over the ocean, right back to the forests of the interior.

For kids of all ages look out for the venue at Charmhaven which has the newest Laser-Tag games on offer. Dress up in vests and use state-of-the-art phasers to blast away at each other. It is set on two floors and offers six hundred square metres of play area which includes ramps etc. This is a great way to get all the family involved and six teams, or twenty four people, can play at on and the same time. For anyone who can’t run around, stay in the arcade and shoot some games while enjoying a coffee or two. Since this is family oriented, there is no smoking or alcohol allowed here.

Out on Avoca Lake, take a pedal boat or kayak and paddle out to see all the fish and birdlife that Australia has to offer. Here there are also picnic areas and BBQ pits already set up as well as shops to buy all your needs. This area also has holiday accommodation if a night or two away from Magenta is needed.

At Peats Ridge, find a super horse riding and outdoor adventure park. Not only can people get up close and personal with our equine friends, they can also jump on a quad and zoom around the park. This is well within traveling distance so a hire car booked with your Magenta holiday home could come in handy for day trips like this.

Calga houses the Australia Walkabout Park where 180 indigenous species are found. They roam free and are quite used to human traffic which makes them friendlier than most. Here see ancient Aboriginal sites too.

    Where to Stay

Since Magenta is not far from Sydney, visitors can choose to have several bases when they are in Australia. A holiday rental house at the beach is ideal for the first week so that people can unwind, or accommodation in Magenta Shores at the up-market Quay West Resort is fine for those who like a little luxury. Then some days over in Sydney to see some of the world famous sites in accommodation to fit the pocket is also a good idea.

    When to Go

Anytime between October and April is warm and relatively dry. January sees the hottest months but even in the depths of winter, people from Europe only need light, long sleeved clothing to keep out the ‘chill’.

    Getting There

International Airlines out of Heathrow fly to Sydney regularly and fares are very reasonable these days. When booking, either reserve transfers on to Magenta or book a car to save time. Also book up accommodation in Magenta or Sydney from the UK so that everything is in place when the family arrives.
