The Coach House is a meticulously renovated 18th century stable block nestled in the spectacular valley of the River Nore, one mile away from the beautiful village of Inistioge. We are registered with Failte Ireland and have been awarded 5 stars.

It is in a private & secluded courtyard setting, but with close access to plenty of local facilities in nearby Thomastown (3m) and Kilkenny (12m).

The property itself has been lovingly restored to the highest specifications with hand-crafted oak woodwork and natural stone throughout. Clean, light and spacious, it sleeps 8-11 people in two double bedrooms, one with a sofa bed and thee other with a single bed, a twin bedroom and a master bedroom with king-sized bed, an en suite bathroom and a balcony overlooking the valley. An extensively equipped kitchen, including a broad range of herbs and spices, opens out onto a breakfast patio which overlooks the private garden. There is a downstairs shower room, a utility room with a washer and drier, and a large conservatory that leads to the two vaulted downstairs bedrooms. Upstairs, the comfortably furnished sitting room has a wood burning stove and a selection of DVDs and Cds as well as satellite television and WIFI. All duvets, bed clothes and towels are inclusive, as are light and heat.

The local village of Inistioge is a delightfullly picturesque setting on the bank of the Nore with a number of traditional pubs, cafés and restaurants. It is the perfect location for hikes and country walks, especially in the grounds of the dazzling Woodstock Estate gardens.

Nearby Thomastown has an international reputation for its arts and crafts, boasting a variety of studios and workshops to visit, galleries and exhibitions, an artisan chocolatier, cafés and numerous pubs where one can unwind with a pint and some live music.

There are no less than four golf courses within 5-10 mile radius including the famous Mount Juliet Hotel where one can indulge in a spot of horse riding or fly fishing.

Beautiful, spacious property in scenic local

This property is beautifully renovated and in a quiet, peaceful setting. We had plenty of space, it feels even bigger than the pictures show. Location was great for exploring the surrounding areas. We were able to drive to Kilkenny in about 25 minutes and it was just a few minutes in to Inistioge and Thomastown. The only minor issue was spotty WiFi. We would definitely stay there again.

We are continually trying to improve our internet service and unfortunately we are in a very rural area and the current provider is the best available. I know for guests used to super fast broadband it may seem slow but it is still fast enough to stream movies and for gaming but not multiple devices at the same time. Eoin

great accommodations with one caveat

My family of seven stayed at this home home for two days and were very pleased with the accommodations the home provided. However, we arrived without personal transportation and discovered that the trip to Thomastown and Kilkenny is quite distant. The town of Innistioge is about 1.2 km from the house. But, it is straight uphill on the return trip and does not offer much in the way of stores or things to do. Because it was so out of the way, this necessitated always trying to secure a van to the town for all of us, or two taxis. Given the paucity of taxis this far out, it was often difficult to secure transportation without a great deal of pre-planning. Plus, the cost for each each one way trip was well over 40 Euros. With as many trips we made, the transportation costs were quite steep. The home is beautiful and well maintained. But, it is situated in a remote area and walking to anywhere with the narrow and busy road was out of the question. My recommendation is that this property be rented only if you have personal transportation to get to stores, pubs, sites and the heart of Killkenny. Otherwise, you will feel stranded. Eion, the manager was was very friendly and helpful throughout the visit. The wifi capabilities were severely limited. As can be expected, this caused no end of consternation with the young folk who live by their smart phones. However, this was a minor issue given the many pluses this home offers to anyone with a large group. The house is spacious, well equipped and offers plenty of room for everyone. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great place that can easily accommodate a family or group of golfers and who have the transportation to come and go as they please. Thanks to Eion for helping to make our visit very enjoyable.

Beautiful location

Pros: Beautiful location, lots of space outdoors, well equipped kitchen, plenty of bathrooms and towels (although no soaps, shampoos, etc), large washer and dryer (although dryer did not work during our stay).

Cons: Most uncomfortable beds I've ever slept in (had springs poking me in my side the entire night), very very old uncomfortable furniture in the great room, and not enough radiators (very cold bedrooms on the ground floor).

Great house for a summer stay if you have a bunch of kids and need to have plenty of outdoor space and don't care what kind of beds are provided.

If the owner replaced the mattresses in the house new good quality ones and updated the furniture in the great room (most of us had to sit on hard back chairs because the furniture provided absolutely no support), I would give this place 5 stars.

Lovely location and home. Really enjoyed our stay. Owner easy to work with. Plenty of room and privacy for three couples. Even the power going out in town one night did not ruin our stay. Woodstock Gardens in the area beautiful. Nice dinner at Mt. Juliet. Thank you.

Beautiful, Peaceful Location

If you are looking for a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the larger cities, Inistioge is the perfect place to walk and explore. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy on the morning walks to town and beautiful vistas of the river. The Woodstock Gardens are definitely worth a visit. If we had more time, we would have tried the river fishing.

Loved it.. Very homey, LOTS of room for family and friends. Some amazing history as well, and far enough out yet for peace and quiet, yet close to things to see - Kilkenny is about 30 minutes away if that.

The house is set on its own private grounds in a courtyard setting, approx 3000 sq. ft.,1 mile from the village of Inistioge.

Inistioge is a beautiful and historic village on the river Nore in South Kilkenny. Its special character has made it one of the most visited places in the South East of Ireland for many decades.Nestling in the Nore valley it offers some of the best scenery in the region particularly in the recently restored gardens of the Woodstock estate. There is lots to do and when you tire of river paths and woodland hikes you can choose to eat and drink in one of our excellent restaurants and pubs.

There are 4 golf courses within 5-10 miles radius, including the famous Mount Juliet.

The medieval city of Kilkenny is only 12 miles away, an historical and artistic centre.

The area is also famous for it's trout and salmon fishing.
