About this property

Spacious River Arts District Home with Beautiful Sunrise View, 1 mile from town

Charming, Brand New Luxury Greenbuilt home in the RiverArtsDistrict/West Asheville. Only 1.5 miles to downtown Asheville, and .8 miles from the restaurants, bars, and breweries of West Asheville and River Arts District. A deck on every level for grilling and panoramic, Rockwellesque views of the industrial River Arts District and Downtown Asheville against a mountainous backdrop. Large windows and natural light in a spacious open floor plan. Connect to the greenway trail and walk along the French Broad River to New Belgium Brewery or down the street to Amboy Park with the kids. Wake up to the sunrise, sway of the treetops, and some mornings, a mystical fog coming through the trees. Each level has it's own deck and each bedroom has it's own bathroom. We maintain a space in the home on the bottom two floors, separated by a locked door and access through an alternate entrance. We spend very little time at home, so chances are we won't bump into each other unless you want to, though we are always available for questions by phone.

Very Disappointing.
I have never had this kind of experience with a rental property. Check in was 4pm. We had travelled and hiked all day. At 4pm I received a text from Josh saying he forgot he had to clean the property so he could either go clean it or he could refund me $100 and we could just show up and deal with it. We were not going to check in and clean the house. Josh got to the house around 4:30 PM and we arrived at 5 PM. The house was dirty. There were dirty sheets and towels on the kitchen floor. Crumbs on the counter and dining room table. Josh wanted us to leave for about 30 minutes so he could clean the property. I asked him to text us when he was done. I texted him at 6:30 PM because I had not heard from him and there was no response from him so we ended up going back to the property and he was still there. He ended up leaving the house around 6:45 PM and he had to go to the store because there was no toilet paper/paper towels in the house. We also couldn’t find any bath towels and he told us they were in the dryer. When we looked in the dryer there were 3 bath towels (I booked the house for 4 people). Josh brought back toilet paper, paper, towels, and garbage bags (and a bottle of wine for our inconvenience). Late that night he brought 3 more bath towels and left them on the front porch for us. I felt like we were staying in a frat house. Not cleaned appropriately and no attention to detail whatsoever. Would not recommend!

Comfy house, great location
If you are staying in Asheville and don't want to be downtown... this is the place to be, West Asheville. The house was perfect for us (2 couples). Clean, comfortable, beautiful decks looking out to the woods. Wonderful neighborhood to stroll, easy access to the river path, just minutes from downtown.

Not Vrbo high standard
It appeared that people live there all the time. Oven not clean - dirty pan left in oven. Coffee maker evidence of previous coffee grounds. The refrigerator door had shelves of used condiments and open butter. There was a dying potted plant - with dirty watering can in the living room area. A light over the dining table needed bulb replacement. Couch was torn in one area. HVAC floor vents rattled sounds like pouring rain. The door in the master bedroom would not close until you picked up the thick area rug. Tri- fold decorative door impeded the walk space around the bed to the bathroom. Personal items of the owner was left in master bathroom vanity. There was no TVs in either bedroom. Mood light lamp features on bedside and bathroom was very cheap. Nails on multiple walls as if something was removed- thru out the house. I found out after making initial payment that this house was no longer in Vrbo- I should have been contacted by Vrbo and given opportunity to change rental property.

Fourth of July Family Getaway
This house was perfect for our family. Enough room for 5, beautiful views and easy to access from West Asheville's best restaurants.

About the host

We are local musicians who have been in Asheville for nearly 20 years. We have traveled to many cities throughout the years but remain here in Asheville, as it continues to be our favorite place to call home. We love it here because of the unmatched live music scene, night life, outdoor activities, people's friendly and open attitude, and over all pride we locals have in calling Asheville home. We love meeting new people, want you to enjoy it here the way that we do, and are happy to help you get around as much as you need from us.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this property as it has one of my favorite views of the River Arts District. With a Freight Train against a beautiful mountain backdrop, it reminds me of a Norman Rockwell painting; thus, The Rockwell. Beautifully laid out, great attention to detail, tons of natural light, and a viewing deck on every floor, I love to sit out on the porch and watch the train go by. It is magical to wake up in the morning, in the tree tops, looking through the large windows to a beautiful sunrise, or a mystical thick fog where only the closest trees come through. Just a 6 minute walk to the River Arts District, 10 minute walk to West Asheville, and 25 minute walk to Downtown, this house on a hill is central to anywhere you want to be.

What makes this property unique

As we are close to the heart of the River Arts District, West Asheville, and Downtown, we have a few bikes that we can offer for you to get around. We also are just above the Greenway Trail, which you can take along the river for miles, or just 5 minutes to the New Belgium Brewery.
