Recently back from a wonderful week in Lespugue.
We were a mixed party of two families - one with two young boys and ourselves with teenagers.
The property had so much space for the 8 of us. We had a choice of bedrooms and there were so many spaces for people to have quiet time or to have fun together. Our 17 year old particularly enjoyed the en suite bedroom in the converted barn!
The house overall was like staying in a friend's much-loved house. It was fantastically equipped - everything was where you thought it should be.
It was incredibly clean throughout but very homely and welcoming at the same time.
We enjoyed dawn and midnight swims in the beautifully clean, secluded, warm pool; amazing stargazing lying in the pretty and large garden, fun games and relaxation in the top of the barn, cycle rides (with the bikes from the barn) to the boulangerie in Blajan (4km) and many fantastic meals around the table and BBQs.
We ventured the 8k into Boulogne a few times (where there are two supermarkets, pharmacy, banks, post office & fuel) and enjoyed the cafes and market (Wed morning), followed by fun at the outdoor pools and slide (there are eating places there but they're also happy for you to take a picnic in). We took a day trip to Spain (approx 1 hour to the border) and had a lovely meal in Vielha - a pretty touristy town with amazing views and walks off into the mountains, also many restaurants.
One evening we had a really good reasonably priced meal at Le Lias in Molas (about 20mins) North of Lespugue. The restaurant was recommended by Ben who met us at the property on the first day, was really helpful and informative and on the end of the phone if we needed anything.
Alan Young was communicative and friendly from the start and thanks to him, everything was as we expected and more.
We would definitely recommend the house and next time we would hope to book at least a fortnight!
Allan the owner was a pleasure to deal with from the start his communication was first class and nothing was too much trouble for him.
When we arrived we were met by Ben who is the local guy who deals with the property, he has a wealth of knowledge about the area he can share with you.
Boulogne -sur-gesse is about a ten minute drive away where you will find a couple of restaurants and supermarkets, there is a market in the town on a Wednesday which is worth a visit,
The area is rural and very relaxing with some spectacular views.
The house as everything has advertised and more, and the outside space and pool were well used for great enjoyment.
Once again a special thanks to Ben who couldn't do enough for us .
See you again ( hopefully soon)
We stayed at the villa for 8 weeks and had a great time! Our families and friends joined us and the house easily accommodates up to 3 families - 15 people without any problems. There were plenty of toys for the children to play with, the pool being the favourite, of course!
There were plenty of sunflower fields around, especially in mid-late July. Biking in the area is very beautiful and the owner kindly provided us with lots of bikes. We used up the internet quota a couple of times and this was quickly resolved. Just a note of caution - don't forget to turn off all the automated updates - iCloud, iPhotos, dropbox, etc before you connect your phones or computers!
If you have children who are interested in pony riding, don't forget to check out http://www.lesfarfadets.online.fr, which is about 15 minutes away in Escanecarbe. Our girls also enjoyed the N'Co Park Aventure http://ncopark.com, 30 minutes away and has courses for both adults and children (3+ and up). We also used the house as a base to tour the surrounding area - the Pyrenees are about 1.5-2 hours away (a must do), Carcassonne is about 3 hours away and Barcelona is 5 hours away.
We would highly recommend M.Young's place for anyone looking for a relaxing and fun vacation.
This house is great! Charming, well arranged and perfectly equipped for large groups. The pool is great and the garden lovely.
Will come again!
We had a wonderful stay at this villa. Our two families consist of 6 kids and they couldn't have been happier with everything. The weather was nice and the kids enjoyed the heated pool, playground and my son's favorite was driving the "tractor" around the spacious lawn. The house had plenty of room and a well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed playing games in the barn and family meals in the evening at the outdoor seating area. We ventured out a few times to nearby towns but mostly just enjoyed family and the scenery at the villa. There is also ruins for an old fortress within walking distance that made for a nice walk. We would definitely return to this house.
M. young was very friendly, the house was globaly very clean and the part outside was beautiful. Kids and adults could found a place to play or relax! We had a very nice holiday in this house! I would like to gratulate M.and Mrs Young for that all. I will recommend this location to every body!
The house is in the village of Lespugue, a small village near Bolougne Sur Gesse, about 80km from Toulouse airport. It is a farming village and very rural. This is a real community where you will be made to feel very welcome, especially if you have children. There are around 20 houses in the village. There is almost no traffic through the village. Driving around the whole region is a pleasure. There are endless possibilities for traffic free and varied cycling directly from the village.
There is a small church, a little museum dedicated to the statue of venus found in the village and now in the Louvre. The museum serves drinks outside in the summer on a typically ah hoc basis. The scenery around the village is simply stunning, rolling farmland giving way to views of the Pyrenees.
There are ruins of the old chateau on the edge of the village and one of Europe's best preserved Roman Villa's a few kilometres away.
The nearest shops are in Blajan about 4km away where you will find a lovely bakers and a cafe/post office/shop.
About 9km away is Bolougne Sur Gesse which has a range of supermarkets, a fabulously local Wednesday market and a couple of swimming lakes.
The Pyrenees are around 45 minutes away and offer unlimited possibilities for hiking, cycling and outdoor sports and adventure sports.
