About this property

In the heart of Provence, walking distance to beautiful village of Eygalieres

The villa is located on the corner of two quiet streets in the outskirts of Eygalieres. The plot is spacious and entails a courtyard, the house itself and a secluded garden with a 10 x 5 meter heated swimming pool. The entire estate is surrounded by a dense cypress hedge offering a large degree of privacy. A majority of the house´s 300 sqm is laid out on the ground floor with one bedroom, bathroom and movie/audio room located on the first floor. The villa is a minimalistically styled contemporary house with six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a spacious living room, fully equipped kitchen, a winter garden, an office, dining and lounge areas. From the living room there is direct access to a large terrace surrounding the pool. This terrace extends into the pool house and the adjacent fully equipped exterior kitchen.

COURTYARD
The courtyard is the first area that meets the visitor after the motorised gate has closed. It is covered with light coloured gravel from the nearby Durance river in order to fend off the summer heat. There is ample space for parking three to four vehicles.

GARDEN
The pleasant and well-tended garden is covered mostly with lawn, and there are olive trees, lavender, almond trees, large pine trees, acacia and other exotic plants/trees.

BEDROOM 1 (MASTER´S)
Spacious room with a very comfortable 180 x 200 cm bed, dimmable contemporary lighting, several cupboards for clothing, direct garden access through sliding doors.

MASTERS BATHROOM
Secluded and in direct communication with Bedroom 1 is a tastefully tiled, spacious bathroom with toilet, shower, twin washbasins, heated towel rack and heated floor. Illuminated make up mirror and wall-mounted hair dryer.

BEDROOM 2
Spacious room with very comfortable 180 x 200 cm bed, dimmable contemporary lighting, several cupboards for clothing. Direct garden access through sliding doors.

BEDROOM 3
Room with very comfortable 160 x 200 cm bed, dimmable contemporary lighting, cupboards for clothing.

BATHROOM FOR BEDROOMS 2 AND 3
Tastefully tiled spacious bathroom adjacent to Bedroom 3 and just over the corridor of Bedroom 2 with toilet, shower in bathtub, twin washbasins, hair dryer, heated towel rack and heated floor.

BEDROOM 4
Located on first floor; room with very comfortable 160 x 200 cm bed, contemporary lighting, cupboards for clothing.

BATHROOM FOR BEDROOM 4
Bedroom 4 is directly attached to a tastefully tiled small bathroom containing a toilet, shower, washbasin, hair dryer and a heated towel rack .

BEDROOM 5
This bedroom is located in a separate section of the house close to the pool house.
The spacious room has a very comfortable 180 x 200 cm bed, dimmable contemporary lighting, and cupboards for clothing located in the corridor leading to the room from the central part of the house. The bedroom has direct access to the pool house as well as to the terrace surrounding the pool.

BATHROOM FOR BEDROOM 5
Adjacent to the Bedroom 5 is a tastefully tiled bathroom with shower, a washbasin, hair dryer, heated towel rack and heated floor. A separate toilet also adjacent to Bedroom 5 is located just opposite the bathroom.

BEDROOM 6
This bedroom is located in a separate section on the other side of the pool house.
The spacious room has a very comfortable 180 x 200 cm bed, dimmable contemporary lighting, and cupboards for clothing. Bedroom 6 also has direct access to the terrace surrounding the pool.

BATHROOM FOR BEDROOM 6
A tastefully tiled bathroom with shower, washbasin, hair dryer, towel rack and heated floor is integrated into Bedroom 6. There is no toilet in this bathroom, thus occupants of Bedroom 6 will either have to cross the pool terrace in order to access the toilet adjacent to Bedroom 5, or use the guest toilet adjacent to the living room (see below).

POOL HOUSE
Spacious pool house providing shelter from the sun as well as from the occasional “Mistral” (the northerly wind sometimes abruptly presenting itself). Large dining table laid out for 12 guests.

POOL AND POOL AREA
10 x 5 m heated pool with Roman stairs at shallow end, 240 cm depth at deep end.
LED pool lights continuously changing colours creating beautiful effect in the evenings. The pool is surrounded by a tiled terrace that connects directly to the pool house and the living room.

GUEST TOILET
Guest toilet adjacent to living room and guest wardrobe.

WASHING ROOM
Large porcelain sink for cleaning golf shoes, etc, top-of-line Miele washing machine and dryer. Outdoor drying possibilities on the east side of the house.

IRONING AND STORAGE ROOM
There is a room for ironing (high quality, steam generator-based ironing system available) and for storing supplies like water, wine, etc.

IT/INTERNET
The house house has a high-speed fibre optic broadband connection installed. The connection is augmented by a system that provides Internet access to practially all sections of the house including the pool house, pool terrace, and large sections of the garden.

A stay above and beyond our best expectations
There are not enough words to describe our family reunion time at this magical villa in Eygaliers. In fact, for frequent travelers like us this stay will remain in our memories as simply the best one. I am afraid we now have been spoiled for ever. Every detail was thought through. From the welcoming wine and cheese to greet tired guests to a very informative booklet about how to navigate our way around the property and surroundings. The housekeeper was always on hand and attended to our smallest needs in no time. I would like to say a few words about our host. From the day we booked the villa in January and through the whole stay there in September, 2023 , he was always available to answer our questions and give us the perfect recommendations and tips for local excursions and, most important, restaurants to eat. It was very nice and easy to communicate with him. Any questions we asked were returned instantly with the most precise information and willingness to help. And, make no mistake, there were lots and lots of questions. Every restaurant Thore recommended turned out to be a fantastic choice, and we are not an easy crowd to please. Fabulous property, if anything even nicer than the photos on VRBO. Plenty of room for large group to get together to eat and socialise but also peaceful spaces. Shade spots well thought out. Enjoyed exploring the locale by foot and bicycle.

Warm welcome
A very well-equipped and spacious villa within easy walking distance of Eygalieres. The owner was very accessible and went out of his way to.make our stay enjoyable by recommending and booking for us a restaurant for a special occasion. The housekeeper was also very welcoming and informative.

The owners are francophile Norwegians who always dreamt of a place in the sun where favourable climatic conditions meet with peace, tranquility, a beautiful landscape, ancient and contemporary culture, and, not the least, a wonderful culinary offering .

Why they chose this property

We came to the Alpilles area back in 1990 and immediately fell in love with the beauty of the landscape, the quaint villages, the food, the wine and all the cultural attractions on offer within a short distance.

For a number of years we rented houses in different villages until we one day came to Eygalieres, stepped out of the car, looked at each other and said; "this is it, this is the place we want to stay when we visit the Alpilles area". So, after a couple of years renting in Eygalieres, we decided that we wanted our own place with our own style and amenities. Since we spend most of our time in the northern part of Europe, we had to think convenience and "operational efficiency" when visiting. This led to a house concept that lends itself to an easy life with all necessary amenities close at hand. So, upon arrival, we feel we are in a Provencal "heaven" from the first minute of our either long weekend or holiday.

What makes this property unique

The house has a high degree of privacy, and is laid out mostly on ground floor. Together with the pool house and exterior kitchen, the house forms a large windbreaker that makes it pleasant to stay outside most of the year.
The location is very good as the house is situated at the end of a well lit street (street lights does not extend beyond the house), convenient when walking home from any one of the restaurants in the village. The interior is spacious, with all rooms providing volumes of air and light. The interior is held in a Scandinavian style combing function with functional, clean design. Amenities are extensive, exclusive and functional as exemplified by beautifully tiled bathrooms with high quality lighting and appliances, all bedrooms quipped with very comfortable beds normally found in luxury hotels, two fully equipped modern granite top kitchens, high quality sun beds, extensive and atmospheric evening lights, and so on.
