The Valley has many archaeological and monumental sites. There are remains of the Paleolithic in caves next to Cozvíjar and several Neolithic sites in the Padul Depression.
Due to its location the valley enjoys a central position among the great leisure spaces of the province, an issue that the visitor takes advantage of for extra-regional excursions, such as: The western Alpujarra, with its landscape, urban, gastronomic, ethnological legacy and its sports and spa possibilities.
The gastronomic heritage is an excellent sample of southern Mediterranean cuisine. The dishes stand out: orange soak, fennel stew, bread or flour crumbs, gazpacho, fries with eggs and fried peppers or longaniza, local slaughter products choto with garlic, meat with tomato, snails, beans with ham .
