WEEKLY RENTAL RATE SPECIAL: $915
We were renters ourselves for a few years in a row -- our friends Jonathan and Carolyn ran the vacation rental and we'd said back then, if you ever want to sell... Sure enough, when they were ready we were their first call, and we bought the property immediately.
Nora Dvosin & Jeffrey Karoff purchased this house in 1999
We think our house is situated in one of the best spots in Dixon. We are at the end of the road, with only wilderness beyond. So we have this vast, protected, BLM natural preserve as our side and backyards. You can see our neighbors down the road about 100 yards, but that's about it. Otherwise, the land is untouched.
We love going there ourselves - we are in Dixon 3-4 times a year. Somehow, we never tire of the intoxicating landscape, the air, the quiet, the extraordinary New Mexican skies, and the light. The banco under the ramada is one of the most magical spots. The ramada's pillars provide framed views of the landscape that remind us of Maxfield Parrish's idyllic worlds.
Our family of four stayed for Spring Break 2018. We loved the Adobe Home at the Edge of Wilderness. The home was the perfect size for us and we had everything we needed. The views were amazing. The home itself is simple yet refined and elegant at the same time. The art, furnishings, and design of the home are amazing. The kids loved the bedroom at the top of the Adobe turret. Thanks so much for the wonderful stay, Jeffrey and Nora.
Loved staying here for a week, waking up to the sunrise and seeing the landscape lit by the full moon at night. Close to the town of Dixon but with a pleasurable feeling of remoteness and quiet at the edge of the public lands. Beautiful walks into the hills right from the house. A great kitchen for cooking, with good lighting, and nice to have a dishwasher. Beautiful views from the outdoor seating areas, of which there are several, so that there's always a place to sit in sun or shade midday. Such clear colors and blue skies while we were here. Enjoyed the house and the location very much! Thank you!
Our family of 4, my husband, our 2 daughters (7 & 6) and myself did not want to leave this getaway once we arrived. The home is completely secluded, cozy and inviting. We loved the adobe architecture, and the simplicity of our stay.
Everything we needed for our stay was provided. We picked up groceries on the way to the cabin and all that we needed for cooking meals was there. We enjoyed seeing the beautiful Rio Grande just minutes from the home, and the Bandilier ruins just a short drive. We also enjoyed shopping in Santa Fe and Taos. There is also a wonderful winery just minutes from the home.
We would definitely like to stay at this property again!
The house was just right, clean, fresh, and comfortable. The access to hiking right out the door was incredible and we never saw anyone else on the hikes. The beds were comfortable and the neighborhood quiet. I woke every morning and watched the sun rise with the desert serene and perfect around me. I hope we get to visit again soon.
We had a wonderful stay at the Adobe Home at the Edge of the Wilderness and are happy to give the home the highest rating. It is a beautiful house and is well situated for exploring the region. The house was very comfortable for two adults and three teenagers for a week. It was very clean and was furnished with everything we needed. We cooked several meals at the house, and the renovated kitchen was great. The land around the house is spectacular with hiking right out the door. The outdoor living spaces add to the experience and are a great way to enjoy the gorgeous scenery. Skiing is close, and it is easy to make day trips to nearby cities. The owners are easy to work with and responsive as was the local contact. We very much enjoyed our time at the Adobe Home and hope to visit it again!
We stayed a month and wished it had been longer. Full of character and charm, this house is for people who love the beauty of the wild with all the comfort of civilisation! Loved the log fire, the chill out areas outside, the intense silence and the amazing stars at night. We cooked in the well-equipped kitchen, sampled the local artisan beers, hiked and skiied. Manager Candace was great too.
