Guestbook comments from the manager

My husband and I traveled to Siesta Key for the first time this May and it was as beautiful as we had hoped. If that wasn't enough, our apartment -- the Sand dollar -- was perfect! It was just the right size for two people, incredibly clean, well stocked, and right on the beach. We loved the outside patio and enjoyed our coffee there each morning, as it was private to our unit. Additionally, we had our own grill and used that as well. The bed was comfortable and we joked that the couch had some magic power to make us fall asleep. In retrospect it was probably that we were so relaxed from sitting on the beach all day. Speaking of that, there were plenty of beach chairs available as well as a beach umbrella and towels. The apartment is located very close to restaurants and shops and we walked into town every day. Sarasota is a short drive and we ventured over there a couple of times for groceries. We didn't meet Chelly, but it was easy to get in touch with someone whenever we had a question ... like where the switch to garbage disposal was. FYI, it was behind the fridge. What a great trip and such a beautiful place stay. We would definitely return.

Best place we've ever stayed on Siesta Key!

I'm almost afraid to rave too much about our stay here because I don't want it to be all booked up when I want it to be available for me again! But in all honesty the location is amazing - absolutely perfect. You can simply walk out the door and onto the beach - a nice quiet end of the beach too - you almost feel like its your very own private beach. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful too. And yet you are only blocks away from the village - we walked there easily and many times. As far as the accommodations, the apartment is very cute and especially clean, bright and sunny. One entire wall is windows which allows you to look out onto the beach and which also allows in such wonderful sunshine. The open concept kitchen/dining/living area makes for good visiting together. The appliances are modern and the kitchen very well-equipped. The whirlpool tub was quite nice, and there were plenty of towels and linens. Having the owner on property made arrival and departure very easy and also offered a sense of security and a sense of homeyness. The owner greeted us on arrival and made sure we were familiar with the area, offered maps and advice. We really didn't need anything during our stay, but I know that if we had he was only a knock on his door away. They were very friendly, but of course allowed us our privacy too. The biggest highlight to me was the beachfront location - being steps away was the best experience. We have stayed many places on the Key in the past few years and this was by far the best way to experience it. I felt the price was very affordable too, especially for this kind of location! If I had to come up with any negative... maybe a pool would have been the icing on the cake for this paradise. But honestly thats all that it was missing. And we really didn't miss it. I highly reccommend this property. I know we will return!

Decent Place But Not For Us

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for two nights. The location, I have to say, is great. Only a block away from Siesta Key village for shopping and restaurants. The property is right on the beach, although the far end of the beach. In reading the description, I knew the apartment would not be very large so we were expecting much more. The building is old resulting in the floors not being even and the doors not closing properly. That was not the issue. The issue we did have was that there were more rental units than we had expected. This apartment is the upstairs unit of a small building toward the back of the property. There is a front building that appears to be separated into two units, one possibly being a 4 bedroom unit and I'm not sure how many bedrooms the front unit had although I think it may be 3 bedrooms. There is also a 4 bedroom house in the back of the property with a pool. This is a complex in and of itself. It is obvious that the owners cater to large groups and weddings. Just so happened that we were there when a wedding was going on. The front house, the back house and the apartment below us were all part of the wedding party. This meant people meandering all around the property after the beach ceremony. They played loud music at the back house and there were people milling around drinking late into the night. Although the common areas are available to utilize by all renters, it would be quite hard for us to sit down right in the middle of a large group of people who all know each other. I wish it would have been noted when we made our reservation that there would be a large group occupying most of the property. We may have taken a pass. Outside of that issue, the place was priced right for a stay on the beach close to town. On a side note, I read in the binder that no pets were allowed. The people occupying the apartment below us had a small dog staying with them.

Owner's Response: We do always strive to make sure every guest does have an enjoyable stay and sorry to hear that this guest was not fully satisfied. We do not advertise our property as an individual unit but as part of a very small resort and do provide potential guests with our website and face book link that does show all of our units. The weekend that this guest stayed with us, there was a family that did occupy two of our units, not all the others, and did have a 10 minute ceremony on the beach and there was no reception held on the property. With having a few units on the property, there is always more guests on there than there would be with only one unit, so it is to be expected that at any time there would be other guests gathering at the common area. We do have an acre of property, besides the beach in front that we own, so there has never been a complaint about not having plenty of space to enjoy. We do not accommodate pets but the guest staying in the other unit did have documentation that his pet was a therapy dog, and by law we did have to accommodate. We do have weddings on the property, because of its amazing location, but we do require the the full resort is booked by the wedding party if there is to be a reception or any kind of entertainment. We have many years of very satisfied guests, as you can see by our reviews here, as well as all of them on our face book page and we will continue to do our best to exceed all of our future guests expectations.

Loved it!

My husband and I spent a week at this adorable cottage... it was just perfect in every way. Bed was so sleep I've had away from home! The view from our deck was georgeous ... Sitting out on the deck looking over the water was just so relaxing. An absolutely perfect location. Just a 5 minute walk to Siesta Key Village. Perfect!

We are definitely planning on returning next year !

Lovely place on Siesta Key!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a few lovely days in this quaint beach apartment on Siesta Key and we loved it. It is truly a beach front property. We walked to the Broken Egg for breakfast each morning and enjoyed walks along the beach. So relaxing and quiet. The owners were very kind and even invited us to a party they were having for a family member. The apartment is small and I would not recommend it for more than 2 adults and 1 child. But everything we needed was there. The Jacuzzi tub was relaxing, the kitchen was fully stocked and the bed was comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Place!!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just got back from Siesta Key's and stayed at this great property. It was even better than I had expected. The owner, Bill was such a great guy and eager to make sure everything was just right. The apartment was spotless and really on the beach! What a perfect location! If we go back to Siesta Key's, I would book this property again.

Private Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 3 year old and I enjoyed our stay. I was 8 months pregnant and this was a perfect get away. The apartment has a deck with a clear view of the beach. We enjoyed eating breakfast each morning on the deck. The beach is not very wide but is private. It ended up being perfect that the beach is narrow since you did not have to haul your chairs and stuff far to get near the water. It was also nice to be able to walk back to the apartment for a restroom break or to refill your drink. The location on the island gives a perfect view of the sunset. We also enjoyed being within walking distance to the village. The owner is wonderful and very personable. We asked if there were any BBQ utensils and he said no and that it was ok to use the kitchen utensils. Later that day we found new BBQ utensils on our doorstep. I will definitely go back and stay.
