Description

LITTLE BEAR ***** - Charming apartment for 2 at garden level

Charming and lovely apartment for 2 with a small outside space. Easy access (ground floor / garden) with all amenities. Suitable for people who have difficulty climbing stairs.

Official Rating 5 stars (April 2018)

The Little Bear is right on the small and quiet square of the Winegrowers (place des Vignerons) where a small terrace with 2 garden chairs provides a nice place to have breakfast in the sun. The Little Bear gite has two independent entrances. It is accessible by 3 steps on the front or from the side by a small paved ramp.

Although not fully meeting the standards of handicaped access with use of an autonomous wheelchair, this apartment was designed to facilitate the stay of people who have difficulty climbing stairs: no step inside the apartment, large walk-in shower.

The former main entrance hall is now organized as a dining room in a kind of winter garden. It gives access to the little outside terrace.

About the property

Les Remparts de Riquewihr

The location is exceptional: in the medieval ramparts, facing the vineyards. It is quiet, but only a few hundred meters from the heart of Riquewihr, one of the most beautiful villages in France ...

This is a collection of 6 new outstanding luxury holiday homes: 4 of them are located in a big Renaissance house (actually a winery built in 1580) on the first belt of the ramparts (built 3 centuries earlier in the year 1291). The property is facing the famous Schoenenbourg Grand Cru vineyard producing some of the best Alsace wine; 2 other apartments are in a 17th Century adjacent house. The houses are surrounding a small garden. The renovation works took more than 2 years. The result is a gem!

About Jean-Paul Krebs

Les Remparts de Riquewihr (Ramparts of Riquewihr) is our small family business. We are a couple of tourism professionals - Martine and Jean-Paul - having many years of experience in airline business and travels.

We think that - especially for a rather long stay (most of our guests are discovering the slow travel concept and are staying 7 nights and more) - it is not enough to sleep well during the night but it is necessary to enjoy the stay in a place which is somehow of the same level as the historical surroundings, the landscape, the mountain and the vineyards: beautiful. We put a lot of effort and care in the renovation and decoration of our vacation rental apartments because we want our holiday homes to be a memorable part of your travel experience to Alsace and France.

Jean-Paul Krebs purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Jean-Paul Krebs chose Riquewihr

After 6 years of efforts rebuilding this old medieval property we are proud to announce that our collection of new outstanding luxury holiday homes in Riquewihr, Alsace just earned a 4 and 5 stars official classification by the French ministry of Tourism.

Our holiday homes belong without any doubt to the finest places to stay in Alsace.

What makes this apartment unique

The location is exceptional: a very quiet historical place facing the most famous vineyard in the area but within short walking distance of the historical center of the village.

I am delighted to say that this was one of our most enjoyable and memorable holidays yet. The Alsace region and the accomodation at Les Ramparts de Riquewihr were more wonderful than we had hoped for or expected. Firstly the apartments; we stayed in Little Bear and we found it to be completely charming. Perfectly placed, right in the center of Riquewihr and yet totally private and quiet. This ground floor apartment has access to the serene and fragrant garden where there are peaceful seating areas, as well as its own little outside seating area off the wintergarden. The apartment is decorated in the most charming, romantic, cosy and welcoming style whilst having appliances of the highest standard including a top of the range microwave/oven and a krupps coffee machine. Pods for the krupps are available from the office run by the very efficient and friendly Valerie. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her and you could tell she is as passionate about Les Ramparts and Riquewihr as Jean Paul, the owner and they are both so genuinely determined to do all they can to ensure a wonderful experience is had by their visitors. Every tiny little detail has been thought about, down to the provision of tabs for the washing machine and dishwasher and quality toiletries in the shower room.We loved our stay in Little Bear and will certainly return again.

As for the Alsace region, well it is just beautiful and Riquewihr is chocolate box pretty with endless charm to be found around every corner. It is so lovely, its hard to take it all in. Other beautiful and charming little towns we visited were Kaiserberg and Ribeauville and a gorgeous little village near Ribeauville called Bergheim. Then of course there is Colmar which is larger than the others but also very beautiful. We found the local people to be very welcoming and helpful. If you love ancient architecture in pretty towns and villages with wonderful food and wine ( the local pinot gris is fabulous) all set in amongst rolling vine covered countryside, then look no further, you will have found paradise. Do try to take a trip into the Vosges mountains as well and take lunch at one of the mountain farm restaurants serving wonderful, rustic traditional dsihes. Alsace is said to be one of the sunniest regions of France and the sun certainly shone for us all days but one and we were able to sit outside to eat most days. It was just fabulous in every way possible and we can't wait to go back and do some more exploring!

BEAUCOUP DE CHARME

  • 5 of 5

A bientôt !

Romantische Ferienwohnung mit Charme

  • 5 of 5

Riquewihr, perhaps the most romantic medieval city of Alsace is hidden among the vineyards and the Vosges Mountains.

Alsace and the medieval town of Riquewihr the vineyards are definitely a great destination. Alsace offers a unique combination of history, culture and landscapes. A renowned gastronomy and delicious wine make it one of the most interesting regions to visit in Europe.

In early 2010, the famous travel guides Lonely Planet elected Alsace among the original 10 destinations in the world to visit this year! For Lonely Planet, Alsace is one of the most beautiful and the most original of France which, thanks to its wine, cuisine and other attractions and tourist facilities are worth the trip.

Riquewihr is one of the crown jewels and has still the face that was hers there nearly 500 years. More than 30 restaurants are within walking distance in the village, the traditional family restaurant in the establishment of prestigious Michelin star.

Riquewihr is also a convenient place to stay for exploring and discovering all Alsace, but also very close to Germany and even Switzerland.
