This listed Historic House, is a meticulously renovated 18th century farmhouse situated in the verdant rolling hills of South County Kilkenny. It is in a private and secluded courtyard setting, but with close access to plenty of local facilities in nearby Knocktopher (4km), Thomastown (13km) Kilkenny (25km) and Waterford (28km). The nearby M9 motorway provides easy access to Kilkenny, Waterford and Dublin.
The property has been lovingly restored to the highest standards with hand-crafted woodwork and natural stone throughout. It is clean, spacious and comfortable. The property includes two units: a two-story main house and a two-story guest cottage. These can be rented individually or together. The main house contains two double bedrooms, a large kitchen, a sitting room, a formal dining room, and 2.5 bathrooms. The adjoining guest cottage contains two double bedrooms, a kitchen and sitting room and one bathroom. A laundry room with washing machine and dryer is located in an adjacent building. The farm buildings are located around a courtyard which features a landscaped patio with flower garden.
In the main house, the well-equipped kitchen features the original eighteenth-century stepped chimney, a Stanley traditional stove, and a large family-style kitchen table. The kitchen opens out through French doors onto a stone patio which overlooks a private garden and rolling hills in the distance. One bedroom, containing a double bed, is in a loft above the kitchen. The main house also contains a sitting room with T.V. and a formal dining room featuring slate floor and a large table that seats eight. The master bedroom is above the dining room. It has a king-sized bed, wood floor and an adjoining half bathroom. All duvets, bed clothes and towels are inclusive, as are light and heat. Both houses have central heating and the main house has under floor heating in addition to radiators.
The cottage is situated in a quiet rural setting surrounded by farmland. It is an ideal location for a quiet family holiday, but there are many attractions within a short drive, including the cities of Kilkenny, Waterford, and the picturesque towns and villages spread throughout the beautiful Kilkenny countryside. This is a great area for golfing, fishing, cycling, hill walking and exploring the many medieval castles, abbeys and churches dotting the countryside. South Kilkenny is also famous for its many designers and craft workshops including Kilkenny Design Center, Nicholas Mosse Pottery, Jerpoint and Duiske Glass makers, amongst many others. The City of Kilkenny is an exciting destination with a well-preserved medieval core focused on the stunning Kilkenny Castle and Gardens. It has an active arts scene with a range of galleries, studios, museums, and historic attractions. It is a great place to eat, drink, shop and explore. Kilkenny hosts several festivals over the summer months including the Kilkenny Arts Festival in August and the Cat’s Laugh comedy festival in June. The Viking city of Waterford, a short 30-minute drive away by motorway, is also a lively spot with plenty to do and see.
