This is a unit that has great potential.
Our communication was good with the Property Manager - until we checked in. Then, when we asked a question about the unit he didn’t answer.
There is no washer/dryer available right now - apparantly broken. The Property Manager offered to reimburse any expense incurred at the laundromat that he said was 8 minutes away. To me, it is the convenience of in suite laundry capability that is the draw, not the minimal expense of the laundromat.
The cleanliness of the place needs to be addressed. The walls may never have been cleaned and there are hand and finger marks throughout the suite. I noticed, reading through past reviews, that people had complained about a broken towel rack three years ago. It is still broken.
The location is excellent and the neighbourhood is marvellous.. There are restaurants a plenty within a short walk - heck, there’s even a funeral home across the street incase you overeat in all the restaurants..!
Parking is an issue. The property Manager and his family live in the building, which is made evident by the check in process. I suspect they are using the parking stall that came with the unit for their own purposes. As a result, you will be struggling to find parking in downtown Calgary. We got lucky about 50% of the time and got one of the very few available visitor spots in the exceedingly heated (I’m not kidding - you’ll be sweating!) underground - the rest of the time we were driving around searching - sometimes only finding something a block or two away or with time restrictions...
All in all it is a decent suite. It could be magnificent if these things I mention above are addressed. It would only cost a little time and very little money to do so. If David, the Property Manager, does these things the ratings would go up and the people would come back.
One more thing: There are little signs taped to the wall all over the apartment that warn of fines and demand silence. I’m not talking about one - they are everywhere! This detracted from our experience big time. If you forget to return keys - $300.00 fine. If you smoke that’ll cost you $200.00. The granddaddy of offences however is noise. A noise violation will set you back an obscure but impressive amount of $526.00! These notes have to go...!
Great potential but needs a little work to get there.
