Perfection! Can't ask for more...
This place was teh bomb! It was in a beautiful setting, the rooms are beautifully appointed, and Linda is wonderful. She has thought of everything you could possibly need to have a great stay, and more. The view from the windows. the gardens, and and utter charm of the owner make this a perfect place to stay. Highly, highly recommend it! (Oh and the breakfast was awesome, as well!)
Deserves more than 5 stars. It is over-perfect!
Our 11-yr old boy coined the phrase over-perfect to describe Linda's place and the overall experience. 'Spotlessly' clean can be applied in a literal sense. You really can't find even a single spot. The attention to detail is just unbelievable. There are so many little details that are so very useful but hardly ever found elsewhere, that this place feels more like a boutique hotel! For instance, the Egyptian Cotton bed sheets. There's even a pillow menu! The house is set in a beautiful rolling verdant neighbourhood with well-manicured gardens, large trees and lots of peace and quiet. We spotted a beautiful badger comfortably resting in-between the trees. The views of the majestic Surrey Hills are breathtaking. The quintessentially English village nearby has England's oldest swimming pool and a beautiful spot for Cray fishing. The walks through the countryside and the villages were fabulous. We were four of us on a family holiday and were extremely comfortable. This could well be our base if we were visiting for work in London in the future. It is far too good to not return. And return, we will!
Our hostess could not have been nicer or more helpful. The rooms were beautiful and the location, though remote from most amenities, worked for us a a base for walking since it was tight on a major pathway.
The Surrey Hills has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England.
It has so many beautiful villages and countryside. We are fortunate to be located in the heart of the Surrey Hills, with so much right on our doorstep and all within a few miles of the house.
Enjoy exploring Westcott and other charming chocolate box villages featuring churches over-looking village greens, quaint cottages, historic houses, idyllic pubs and pretty tearooms.
Shere, just a 10 minute drive away is so beautiful and quintessentially English, it has featured in a number of blockbuster films such as The Holiday, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Bridget Jones – the Edge of Reason. With its quaint little cottages, medieval streets and waterside setting, this picture-perfect village looks like something from a story book.
After you have explored the villages, hit the hills! Just a few miles away from our house is Leith Hill where you can enjoy an awe-inspiring, 360 degree view of the scenic highlights that make Surrey such a fabulous place to visit. The highest point in the South East, offering views that extend to London in the North and the Channel to the South, with far reaching woodland and green open spaces in between. On a clear day it is claimed you can see 14 counties from its summit.
Box Hill, just 2 miles away has been a famous destination for day-trippers from London and more recently as a cycling destination during the Olympics. Newlands Corner just 7 miles away with its commanding views offers a great spot for a picnic.
We are also well placed for visiting a superb selection of well preserved stately homes, many of which form part of the National Trust, including Polesden Lacey and Hatchlands Park, both just 15 minutes drive away.
Activity-wise we have a fishery a 5 minute walk away and you can also fish in the Tillingbourne down the road.
You can hire a bike from a shop a 5 minute stroll from the house and see why Westcott is one of the most popular places in the country to cycle.
Golfers there are two golf courses just 5 minutes by car.
Budding chefs, there are two cookery schools located within a few miles.
Denbies Vineyard, Britain’s largest, is just two miles away as well as two gin distilleries and a craft brewery where you can sample beers the moment they are ready!
Parents we have a great park, a 5 minute walk from here with zip wire, football goals, trampoline, skateboarding ramp and playground.
There is an indoor pool 1.5 miles away.
Chessington World of Adventures theme park is 15 minutes away by car.
There is so much you can do here, you just need to find enough time to do everything!
We are located in the village of Westcott with the Greensand Way and its stunning countryside walks accessible direct from our back garden. We are just 5 minutes from the nearest shop and pub and a 25 minute walk from Dorking, the nearest town.
We are also close to London, only 50 minutes by train. The South Coast is only an hour's drive away. Dorking has 3 stations serving London and the South East. With all the amenities and countryside so close, it means you do not have to be at the mercy of your car during your stay, in fact you may find you do not use it at all!
