About this property

We are all saddened by the devastating wild fires in Lahaina. It was an historic town with many good restaurants, galleries, and shops. The harbor was busy with sightseeing boats and whale watching boats in the winter. Cruise ships always stopped there for a day. It was also a vibrant town of 12,000 residents who worked in the restaurants, galleries, shops, and boats. It was the economic hub of West Maui. While all of the structures are gone and too many lives have been lost, the survivors go on. They need the support of the locals and the visitors. There has been a tremendous outpouring of help. Visitors are reporting the gratitude expressed by locals for coming and spending money as well as donations of goods.

Kihei is centrally located in South Maui and is home to many condos and residential areas. The Road to Hana, Haleakala, the resorts in Wailea, the lava fields on the way to Ahihi Preserve are an easy drive from Kihei. Our building is directly on the water with beaches adjacent to our lawn. Experience paradise as you sit on your lanai with nothing but sweeping views of the azure waters of Ma'alaea Bay and the Pacific Ocean with the gentle sway of graceful palm trees in the foreground. Watch the sunset every night on our lanai or meet fellow guests and owners on the roof with a beverage and cook on the grills.

Our large, light and bright, beautifully appointed condo is situated on the 4th floor in Menehune Shores, Kihei. It features 3 large bedrooms (2 oceanfront bedrooms with queen beds and 1 bedroom with twin beds facing the imposing Haleakala volcano and the Maui sunrise) and 2 full baths. All linens and towels (bath and beach) are provided. An updated fully equipped kitchen, hairdryers, great room, 2 flat-screen TV's and separated laundry room with full sized washer and dryer -- all the comforts of home are yours as you experience the wonders of this magnificent island. We are directly on the water and generally have sea breezes that cool the condo - we do not have A/C and reduce our rates in the summer.

Amenities include a heated pool with gas grills and picnic tables nearby, waterfront access, shuffleboard court, and free parking (one car during high season). FYI - the POOL IS CLOSED THE WEEK AFTER LABOR DAY for annual maintenance and the nightly rental rate is reduced accordingly. There is a rooftop garden complete with gas grills and picnic tables which serves as a place to gather with others to enjoy magnificent sunsets and whale watching in the winter. If you are hosting a large gathering, a full kitchen is available to rent for your event. Menehune Shores is a very well maintained building with lush lawns and beautiful tropical plantings.

We engage Tracy Keenan as our on-island agent for our rental guests. She provides cleaning, maintenance, guest information book, and pre-rental inspection of the unit to ensure everything is in working order.

Great unit in great location

Our stay was great - the unit was comfortable, clean, and well equipped. The view is unbeatable and the building was great for our young kids who enjoyed the beach and the pool. We would love to come back and would recommend this unit to anyone!

several very polite reasons, and rationalizations, but nothing was fixed

The TV turned on sometimes but couldn't get anything to watch. The freezer broke so the door only opened 3 inches. Internet was spotty regardless of whether on Apple or PCs wifi would just stop. While there was a breeze to cool things down, never was able to get more than 3 hours straight to sleep each night at a time due to the heat and humidity. Couldn't hear the ocean because we needed to keep the fans on. Probably would have had the same problem if we had AC> Looking forward to a good night's sleep now that I'm back home. We received several very polite reasons, and rationalizations, things didn't work but nothing was fixed. Admittedly none of these things were deal-breakers. Just won't be doing this again.

amazing view

The view is amazing, sitting on the deck watching the ocean and activities was a great way to pass time in between activities. The beaches were nice to walk daily and watch the turtles. The pool was a great place to cool off. The condo and building is very well taken care of and accommodated our family well.

Great property!!

We had an amazing time at this Kihei condo. Was the perfect size for our family of 5. Really appreciated all of the extras…lots of towels, beach towels, beach chairs, coolers. Plenty of ocean breeze coming through the lanai door that we didn’t mind no a/c. Great location. Close to airport and Wailea. Only about a 40 minute drive to Kaanaapli beaches. Very close to stores and restaurants. Many within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again.

BEST view you could ask for!

Just returned from our stay in Maui and this property was absolutely perfect for our family. The water views were picture perfect. We saw whales and sea turtles almost everyday. The beach was steps away and relatively shallow so any water activities were easy to do. I highly recommend staying for sunset each night if you can because it is like no other view you will see. You feel like you’re at the edge of the world. We will definitely be back!

In 1987 when our parents had already decided that Maui was their "go to" place to escape New York winters, we bought this condo for their (and our) enjoyment. After their passing, we continued with a nice blend of family use and rental time. Some thirty years later, Maui and Menehune Shores continue to be the cornerstone of the Hopper family tradition.
Our standard is to provide our rental guests with an affordable and well maintained condo in the same manner we would for our family.

Why they chose this property

As you open the door, you will be awestruck by the unobstructed view of the Pacific ocean. Our unit is less than 50 feet from the water and the soothing sounds of the ocean lapping against the seawall can be heard throughout.

What makes this property unique

While convenient to all island amenities, restaurants, and shopping, Menehune Shores is a unique private setting for just relaxing and enjoying ocean and mountain views. A 16th century royal fish pond provides a well protected beach for children to play in the water and sand.

An end to a perfect day is joining other guest and owners watching the magnificent sunsets on the "roof top garden" which has gas fired BBQ's and picnic tables for your use.
