Best Christmas Vacation Ever

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this cabin. It is very clean and spacious. The owner was very flexible with out schedule and timing and we are renting this cabin again this year. My kids and I had wonderful memories. It snowed on the day we arrived and it was beautiful. If you are looking for a little serenity and away from the crowds peaceful vacation - this is the cabin for you. It is worth the drive to the slopes which aren't that far and the local town is small but has everything you would need for your vacation. We loved it!!!

Great house, quiet area

  • 5 of 5

Property was awesome. The area was more remote than we planned. The only place to go out for a night out was D’s Doghouse and they pretty much turned us away and we felt uncomfortable. Luckily the house was amazing and we were able to enjoy a nice dinner in and a fire which the owner supplied an endless amount of wood! Very clean and owner was very helpful and answered any questions we had right away.

Wonderful every time

  • 5 of 5

We have come to this cabin three years in a row in early January with a group of friends. It is spacious yet cozy, its kitchen is well stocked, there are fun surprises in the board games and books.

Some of the appliances are aging, and there is almost no insulation, though this can be seen as an advantage, increasing the incentive to keep a good fire going.

This really feels isolated, in a good way (but also: there is no cell reception), but (except in case of snow storm, like this year) it's easy enough to get to ski trails, restaurants in Middlebury, book stores, etc.

My family enjoyed a wonderful stay for our Thanksgiving getaway. Stephan's home is very cozy and welcoming. His description of his home is very accurate and we would recommend staying there. Thank you Stephan!

Peaceful Getaway for a Family with Young Children

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I took our three young children (6, 4, and 2 years old) to this wonderfully secluded and peaceful cabin in the fall. The cabin was perfect, and the trees were starting to change beautiful colors. Comfortable and warm but not frilly. We enjoyed using the indoor wood burning fireplace as well as staying in a place without television. However, the WiFi was excellent if you needed it. There was ample sleeping and living space. It could easily fit 10 people. We found a good hike about 45 minutes away that suited our family. It was a hike to Falls of Lana and Silver Lake. A "moderate" hike for children, but they did great. I would recommend this cabin rental without hesitation!

Very nice but remote

  • 4 of 5

We loved the interior of the cabin, but the photos are a little misleading. Far off the beaten path, no great views or nearby river to swim in. However if you want peace and quiet only, great locale.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review. We are so glad you loved the house. It is not in a resort or in town – it’s definitely quiet and out of the way. Restaurants, a supermarket, the Sunshine Valley Organic Berry Farm, the Rochester Ranger Station, The Big Town Gallery, Sandy’s Books and Bakery and Green Mountain Bikes are all in Rochester. We often also swim in Rochester in the White River where there are 2 swimming holes. It takes about 15 minutes. Warren Falls is also hugely popular for swimming with the locals and is about 25 minutes from the house. Blueberry Lake is gorgeous, about the same distance, and has walking and mountain bike trails as well.
