Welcome to our beautiful White Mountain home on 2.5 acres of old growth Ponderosa Pine forest at the end of our private paved road. We are located in a very secluded and private area of the mountain yet close to everything the wonderful White Mountains has to offer!
Our large home is perfect for all kinds of gatherings, whether you are a couple looking for a romantic getaway, a family wanting time away from the bustle of your busy lives or perhaps you are looking for that perfect memorable reunion location. Our home has been used as a corporate retreat and even by youth sports teams for nearby camps and training. At nearly 7000 feet in elevation we are an excellent location for high altitude athletic training.
Are you an aspiring chef or do you need to feed a small army? Then you will fall in love with the professionally equipped gourmet kitchen where we have a restaurant grade 6 burner range with a 24" griddle, a cheese melter/salamander and double gas ovens. There is also a large convection wall oven, built in wall microwave and two large capacity fridge/freezers! AND just so you are not spending your time doing the dishes after feeding your small army, our kitchen includes two dishwashers. We have thought of and provided everything that you will need to enjoy our kitchen and culinary experience, just bring your ingredients and your imagination.
There is table seating for up to 24 in our kitchen/dining area so everyone can participate in mealtime togetherness.
Each of the five bedrooms boasts a king bed with updated furnishings and plush dream inspiring memory foam mattresses. The Master Suite includes a large walk in shower and an oversized Jacuzzi tub for a relaxing soak after a long day on the slopes or the trails! It is especially nice after a long day of rigorous relaxation with a good book!
The Bunkhouse room is the perfect place for your children to create lasting memories together where there is room for 18 to sleep on 8 double and 2 twin beds. The Bunkhouse is a favorite of our guests enjoying our home for family reunions where all the cousins can be together. We also host sports teams who enjoy the bonding and team building opportunities the Bunkhouse provides.
We have four large decks to BBQ and enjoy the weather on and watch for the wildlife that frequent our part of the woods. We have elk, deer, javelina, rabbits and an abundance of playful tree squirrels. In the mornings you may be entertained by the drumming of the family of woodpeckers that call our property home.
Our house is equipped with premium cable entertainment and smart tv's so you can stream your favorite shows and movies. Hi-speed WIFI is also provided for our guests use.
We are constantly upgrading as well as adding features and amenities to our home and large property so don't be surprised when it looks and feels even better each time you return.
Popular hiking and mountain bike trails abound and the pristine backcountry forest of the Mogollon Rim that is only a few hundred yards to the west. More than a dozen popular improved and well marked trails have their trailheads within a 10 minute drive of our home in either direction. Visit the White Mountain Trail System map online to see the 200 plus miles of loop trails in the Lakeside Ranger District of the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest.
Arizona's White Mountains offer you over 40 lakes and more than 25 streams with over 240 fishable miles. This area is well known for its' trout fishing, which includes Rainbow, Brown, Brookie, and Cutthroat. For those anglers who have a goal of fishing for every species, this area has the unique native Apache Trout. You will enjoy fishing for the aggressive Artic Grayling in one of the artificial lure/fly lakes close by. Paradise Creek Anglers is a local fly-fishing retailer that also provides lessons as well as professionally guided fishing trips.
Less than five minutes away you will find the Porter Mountain Stables that provide guided horseback rides at the base of scenic Porter Mountain. Rides will go through creeks & streams and around Scotts Reservoir then into open ponderosa parks & huge meadows. Longer rides are available up to the Ice Caves or over to the Timber Mesa Overlook where you can get a view of the whole Mountain. Or try a Sunset Ride and watch the sunset as the wildlife comes to life on the back side of the lake!
If winter sports are your thing then Sunrise Park Resort is just short drive from home where you can ski, snowboard, tube or enjoy cross-country skiing. But, if you prefer summer activities, Sunrise Park Resort also offers scenic chair lift rides, downhill mountain biking, zip-line tours, nature hikes, guided horseback rides and many more great summertime activities.
For winter equipment rentals, we recommend Elevate Ride Shop, they have a reputation for rental quality gear that inspected coming in and going out for your safety. Contact us for summertime rentals of kayaks, canoes and bicycles and we can also put you in contact with a reliable vendor. We also have contacts for local guides for hiking and mountain biking as well as veteran professional ski and board instructors and guides.
We have ample parking for your vehicles including RV's and trailers.
We can comfortably accommodate 28 guests in beds and an additional 2 guests on our queen sofa sleeper. Although we can comfortably accommodate up to 30 guests or more, our rates are based upon a party size of ten guests per night. There are additional fees per person per night over ten. Additionally, our cleaning fee and security deposit is also based on ten guests, please see more details in the rates area of this listing.
We are 5th generation natives to Arizona and the White Mountains. Originally settling nearby in the late 1870's our family established the first sawmill in the area. We raised our 6 children, the 6th native Arizona generation, in this home and have loved every minute of our time here. We believe that you will enjoy your stay just as much and create wonderful memories that will last a lifetime!
