About the property

RELAX in this roomy 3 story A-Frame. PRIVATE yet convenient.

Neighbor on one side and abutted by 25 acre greenbelt in the back. Convenience with private space.

HANDY LOCATION at the entrance to Kachina Village, 6 miles south of Flagstaff on I-17. Just 1000 yds off the freeway, yet private, surrounded by pine trees with a private 1/3 acre yard.

Kachina Village is surrounded by the Coconino National Forest and miles of great mountain biking and hiking. 45 minutes to Snowbowl Ski Area, to Sedona, to the Anasazi ruins in Wupatki National Monument, and 1.5 hours to the Grand Canyon.

The chalet is a unique, comfortable 2600 sq ft A-frame home. Natural pine and cedar throughout; customized built-ins and special touches such as the sleeping loft, greenhouse, and game room with heated concrete floor. Plus a new Dimension One Dream spa.

Relax in the sunshine on the deck, toast your toes in front of the wood-burning fireplace, shoot some pool, challenge someone to a fierce match at the foosball table...or just soak in the hot tub and curl up to read in one of the private corners.

We have a large -1/3 acre -fenced yard to make your dogs feel welcome if they are coming along. There is a small one time pet fee for the extra cleaning.

Our rates are based on $180 a night/more on weekends from Labor Day to Memorial Day and $220 a night/more on weekends in the summer. Weekly rates are discounted as are monthly rates. Holiday rates are based on $300 per night: Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Other holidays are the regular rates.

About Chris and Jim

We taught at NAU for year. Chris was the premed advisor and Jim had the opportunity to go to medical school in his 50s. After graduating from Midwestern University in Glendale, we moved to Philadelphia for residency at University of Pennsylvania and stayed. We enjoy hosting guests at the chalet. We have been hosting for more than 10 years.

Chris and Jim purchased this lodge in 1995

Why Chris and Jim chose Flagstaff

We lived here in for 15 years with our two sons and various friends. This is a great house for kids.

We had many large parties with lots of guests: Thanksgivings and Christmases were always here. Our wedding dinner was here. Our friends had a wonderful time staying at our place. When we left Flagstaff, we decided to share our happy home with others, and furnished it with the idea of the perfect getaway. We love the clean air and peaceful environs of Flagstaff, and still vacation here ourselves.

What makes this lodge unique

SPACE and PRIVACY. Kachina Village is very popular because of its unique country atmosphere. Unfortunately, due to haphazard planning many homes are pushed up against the neighbors, creating a closed-in feeling and compromised privacy from the neighbors.

The chalet has one neighbor with a privacy fence. There is plentiful space in the rear with a 25 acre greenbelt and an empty lot to the other side.

The surrounding Coconino National Forest, with its hundreds of miles of forest roads and trails. We loved to run our dogs in the forest. In addition to the abundant natural beauty of the high country, we appreciate the crystal clear air.

HOT TUB with fenced enclosure

Our outdoor hot tub, dimension one dream, installed November 2015, is wonderful at night, under the stars. We love the warm, rustic character of our classic chalet, which feels like 'home' from the minute you step in the door.

New Tuft and Needle mattresses in downstairs and upstairs bedrooms.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Absolutely loved the cabin! Nothing better than coming back from a long day of skiing to a log fire and a steaming hot tub. Beds were nice and comfy and the heated floors were a nice treat for our pups.

Rustic but cozy cabin! Perfect for a short stay!

  • 4 of 5

We had 6 adults and two teenagers with a small dog and it worked out great! Wouldn’t recommend more than 6 adults unless your back can handle a futon or pull out couch though. The host is great and quick to answer any questions or concerns. The game room and hot tub are great to have after a long day of hiking.

Everything we wanted and more!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a long weekend with our children and we had hands down the best time! The fenced yard made it a safe place for our kids and dogs to play in the snow. We also LOVED the game room a great place for our family to come together and play table tennis or pool. We simply loved this cabin and can't wait to come back, thank you so much for sharing your house with us!

Cozy, comfy, homey

  • 5 of 5

The chalet was perfect for the six of us! It was just as described. It is a rustic cabin with all the amenities you could want and more! There was plenty of space for us all and we had a blast! We were there over New Years and the cabin was so comfortable and cozy we hardly left it! The wood burning fireplace made the place for us! We loved the cabin and will definitely be returning next year! The owners were very easy to get a hold of and quick to respond if we had needed them but we had everything we needed with the gas station & dollar store just a short walk away! Thank you for creating a home away from home!!

Flagstaff getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time renting this property, and it was just as great as we remembered. The property has a rustic look and feel at first glance, but on closer look has all the modern amenities you'll need and more. The property is very close to the freeway so grabbing an Uber into town is a breeze. The dollar store down the street is a very convenient walk away for the minor items you may have forgotten such as water or ice. Looking forward to staying a 3rd time!
