Convenient, clean, and cozy

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed our February Break weekend at the "Cozy Cedar Chalet!" Our party included 2 children, their parents, and three grandparents. All three generations fell in love with the house and the area. The skiers loved the family-friendly vibe at Bromley--a quick 5 minutes away. The whole gang appreciated time together as a family, and we all enjoyed the Northshire Bookstore in Manchester. Thank you!!

Owner's Response: Michelle and her family were a delight to deal with for this rental and would be welcome to return anytime. After 34 years of renting out my home in Vermont there is still a certain amount of anxiety about whether all will go well for the guests and whether they will enjoy the property as much as my family has for that period of time. I love the challenge of keeping the home as comfortable as possible and being able to recommend some of the wonderful activities that Vermont has to offer. Many thanks to Michelle for respecting my little home away from home and thank you for your generous review. Ray

Easy access to Stratton/Bromley

  • 4 of 5

Four adults and three teens stayed here for a MLK weekend of skiing at Stratton. Stratton was packed, but we had no trouble (or traffic) getting there from this house. The nonskier spent a day happily wandering around Manchester Center, and another at Stratton village. The house is cozy, quiet, and well-maintained, and the owners are very helpful. The double bed mattress is firm, thank goodness - I've had weekends ruined by sagging mattresses. I didn't try the other beds, but heard no complaints. We moved the twin beds in the 2nd BR together for the other couple. Caveat for families with small kids: no railings on upper bunks at this point. The teens were fine.

It's an easy drive to get to the Shaw's supermarket. Cheap gas and good root beer at the Stewart's, which is like a Baskin & Robbins in a 7-Eleven store. We had a nice dinner out at Garlic John's, a couple of miles down the road.

It was about a 3 1/2 hour drive from the Boston area, leaving right at the 5pm rush hour, and including a stop for burgers in Brattleboro. Just under 3 hrs to get back home.

This house is NOT to be over looked.

  • 5 of 5

My experience at this Cozy house was so sweet, I'm trying to figure out when I get back! Don't miss out on this wonderful little place nestled away in Vt. Skiing, biking, hiking! A couples days away!! Really I can't say enough about how much I loved this space, and I was so sorry I had to cut my time short a day because of work issues. Ray was not only accommodating, but so honest and fair, he gave me some money back for having to leave early!! NOT his problem at all, but just to show you what kind of man he is. He was ready available if I needed, and gave me any info. I needed for surrounding area. Like I said, I'm already planning my next visit. I almost don't want to share this sweet secret with too many....ha, but I will.

I give this place a 10 for sure. Thank you again Ray, I loved your sweet chalet~

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Kris for your generous review. We try hard to keep our little home away from home as nice as possible for guests to enjoy . We have owned this house for over 33 years and plan to keep it as long as possible. We began renting mainly to skiers such as myself and my family but it has become pretty much an all year around destination for folks that just want to get away and relax in the beautiful Vermont countryside. Best, Ray and Mary Jo , owners
