Awesome. Kids’ paradise!
Great property. Clean and spacious. Lots of things for the kids to do. The zipline was a huge hit. Hot tub was amazing and very clean. Was right beside some incredible mountain biking. There was also a fantastic running path right down the road that dogs can run off leash. The house itself was perfect. Lots of room for the kids to play and sleep comfortably. The ping pong table was also a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again. Probably one of the best houses we have ever rented on VRBO.

Family holiday
We had a wonderful time. The pictures don't do the house justice! The kitchen was so well stocked, the beds were really comfortable and the view was terrific! The grandchildren loved the trampoline, the zip line and the playroom stocked with loads of small toys. The games and books were appreciated too! We'd love to come back! Thank you to the Leishmans.

Quiet beautiful retreat
We met up with family and hung out for 10 days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were able to relax and spread out with a beautiful view. It was an easy kitchen to cook in and there were also plenty of restaurants nearby that had food to please all of the various dietary requirements in our group. We would love to return someday!

Beautiful part of the world and this property matched it's surroundings perfectly for two families.
We were based perfectly to be able to access all of what B.C. had to offer. We didn't need to drive more than an hour to get to activities such as the zip wire and white water rafting and the town was only 5 mins drive away. Mountain biking on the doorstep and gentle forest walks for those who didn't need the adrenalin rush. Lakeside beaches within easy reach. The property itself offered great space for 8. Children had their own areas of interest and adults had space for reading and relaxing on lazy days. The outside space has struggled to look after itself but activities in the surrounding area took us out everyday. We enjoyed a glorious 3 weeks of watching wildlife from the balcony in the morning and spotted a bear out driving! Even the Kokanee Salmon spawning was timed beautifully. If the smoke from localised forest fires hadn't filled the landscape in the remaining week with dense smoke we would have been truly sorry to leave. We hope the fires dont blight this beautiful landscape the same way every summer. Thanks to the owner for clearing way our rubbish every week and it was great to meet Tricksy the dog! We loved the soft water and eco-friendly environment. We will take what we've learned back to London. Thank you for letting out your home to us!

We are a family of 6. We have lived in a few different cities and towns in Western Canada. Our children range in age from 6-17 and we ski every weekend from December to April. We love the outdoors and usually have an annual camping trip across Slocan lake every summer for 4 days where we sleep on the beach under the stars. Claire is british and John is Canadian, and we chose Nelson to raise our children in. The skiing at Whitewater is fabulous and the summers here are great with the beach at Lakeside, the hiking, canoeing and incredible mountain biking. We hope you are able to enjoy everything our area has to offer, and that you take home great memories.
We have always wanted to live in the "woods" and yet still be close to town to decrease the amount of time that we have to spend in the car. We were lucky enough to purchase this property and build our dream home on it.

Why they chose this property

This property lets you be close to town (a five minute drive down the hill) and yet feel like you are in a rural setting. If you have teenagers, they can walk into town or to the beach. If you like mountain biking, the trails are right above our house. The house itself is very spacious with an open concept.

What makes this property unique

The views are spectacluar and are always changing as the weather systems roll up the valley. For about 10 months of the year, we have a small pond in our front yard, fed by a spring. Ducks and animals visit the pond when it is quiet. The rails to trails system is just below our chicken coop where an old railway line has been converted into a biking and hiking path. We either run on those trails, or we run on the myriad of mountain biking trails above our house. We have a small chicken coop and if there are chickens there, you are welcome to help yourself to the eggs. We will have someone feeding and watering them. Since we are outside the city limits ( by 10 feet), we can have campfires in the evening and watch the stars come out.
