About this property

Seldovia House - Lost Lake

Alaska has so much to offer and the views usually do not disappoint, and here at Lost Lake Guest House you have a front row seat to some of the greatest views. You will feel right at home when you walk into the house that we call the Seldovia House. With the bright and open floor plan you will be able relax, cook and visit all at the same time, and all while taking in the beautiful view!
The living space is great for relaxing, you can settle in on the couch and watch the news, cartoons or listen to music on the provided Roku equipped tv. You can have a seat at the cute little butcher block table and catch up on those emails and messages with the provided free wifi or relax on the sofa and watch some tv.
This Guesthouse is perfect if you have toddlers or small kids. The guesthouse offers a master bedroom with a queen-sized bed, and there extra sleeping on the pull-out sofa in the living area.
You will love the open concept living area that flows right into the beautiful fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to prepare your next meal. The breakfast bar sits 4 comfortably with views that overlook the whole property. The walls are decorated with local art from Seldovia, AK, which is part of the reason we call this the Seldovia house. The bathroom has a tiled walk in shower with a cascading shower head that you will enjoy, towels are provided.
We are located in the Lost Lake Subdivision which is the gateway to Chugach National Forest and the famous Lost Lake Trailhead. We are in the perfect location for outdoor activities! From our property we are 1/2 mile from the Lost Lake Trailhead and we are just 3 miles from town.

The city bike (walk) path starts right below our property and it will take you all the way to the end of town, which is where you will find the Alaska Sealife Center.
You'll be able to come home from your full day of activities and relax either in or outdoors.
With the bright and open floor plan it has a lot to offer, it will give you and your guest more time to socialize and you will also be able to keep a eye on the kids!
Seward is an outdoors person's paradise! With deep sea fishing, glacier and wildlife cruises, many many hiking trails, a waterfront bike path (actually starts right below the guest house) that takes you along the edge of the Resurrection Bay where most people end up in the evening taking walks, talking with other travelers and just enjoying the views you won't see anywhere else! We have some of the BEST restaurants in Alaska that serve the freshest seafood you can get!

Seward
We were in the bottom unit which was very noisy if there were guests upstairs! We could hear every footstep. The unit is basement, so it’s a little musty smelling. The owner does have a dehumidifier running in the bedroom. The unit is clean and well stocked. The location was good for hiking and adventures based out of Seward. We liked having the grill and we sat on the porch bar stools watching eagles!

Perfect spot to decompress
We are local Alaskan's who traveled to Seward for a weekend of decompression and to enjoy the area. The lodging was perfect for our needs. It accommodated two friends who just wanted to unwind, enjoy nature, rest and relax. The lodging was clean and had everything we needed. The hosts were easy to get in touch with (although we didn't need anything). The area is amazing and we had a wonderful time kayaking with Sunny Cove in Resurrection Bay and beach combing at Lowell Point and 4th of July beach. One of our favorite meals was at the Flamingo Lounge.

Perfect place for our needs!
Was a great place for myself and two daughters… felt spoiled after cabin camping and went on to tent camping after. Shirley even provided an air mattress so we could each have our own bed after sleeping side by side all week lol. Beautiful kitchen and bathroom!

Seward adventure
We had a great time in and around Seward despite the days of rain. The house was perfect. Great view. We saw and heard eagles a number of times from the porch. Shirley is great to work with. Quick to respond and very helpful

Nice stay
Enjoyed our stay. Had a problem finding the house. Used Waze which took us to what appeared to be a random location on Seward Hwy. after some thinking realize the property near by. But after a long travel day was frustrating. Also had confusion as to whether we rented the top apartment or the lower apartment. A quick call to host corrected my confusion. Unit was clean and comfortable.

About the host

Host profile image
We are commercial fisherman here in Alaska. My husband was born and raised in Seward, I myself came to Alaska from South Texas 30 years ago. We are your information specialist here in Seward Alaska. If we don't know, we know someone who does. Fishing, Hunting, Hiking, Mount Marathon, Lost Lake, berry picking, dog mushing, glacier sled dog rides, helicopter rides and those secret swimming holes :)

Why they chose this property

We have given our ALL on this property, fully developing 3 stages and the 1st stage is done. This is an out of town vibe which is what Alaska is all about! We are just a short bike ride and an even shorter car ride into town. We are less than 3 miles into town and just 5 miles from the END of town, the city bike path starts right at our place! Don't forget Seward is the END of the road.

What makes this property unique

My favorite part of Lost Lake Guesthouse is that the Alaska Railroad passenger train goes by twice a day full with people and it's the coolest thing to see and hear! The entire Guesthouse is for you to enjoy. There is trail access to the famous Lost Lake Trailhead less than a 1/2 MILE away. There are beautiful mountain/glacier views from the deck! There is also an Upstairs unit to this property #1011661, So if you need to bring the extended family there is another unit available to rent, where they have can have their own space.
