We have been with Homeaway since 2006, proposing houses that are able to unfold Sicily's colours and charm at best. Houses with quality furnishing in unique locations, with incredible views or with a pool, always accurately selected in order to satisfy our main wish: to see you falling in love with Sicily just like we did. We provide you with transparent information and true pictures. What you see is exactly what you get. We will advise you as much as we can about travel info, transfers and car rental. Dinners in villas and other extra services can also be arranged. Finally, our prices are final rates! There are no hidden additional costs. We are flexible with your arrivals and departures and if you need a late check-in this is usually possible.
100% refund if cancelled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if cancelled at least 30 days before arrival date.
A very special holiday villa
This villa overlooking the sea a few kilometers from Siracusa was a delightful holiday stay. The outlook from the covered terrace is perfect with the setting sun over the bay in the evening. The villa is clean and very well maintained and contact with the owners has been very smooth and helpful. It is possible to walk down the rocks to swim in the sea directly in front of the villa although sadly on our visit, storms on the first couple of days caused quite a sea swell which made it tricky to enter between the waves. Once in, the water is clear with lots of fish life. Remember to bring face masks and snorkels when visiting. Even with the couple of days of rain the very large covered terrace made an ideal spot to chat and read and eat while we waited for sunnier days. There is a nearby shop for basic groceries including freshly baked bread and a few restaurants a little further on. Nearby Siracuse is very interesting and worth spending a couple of days in the shops, markets and historical sites. Would very much recommend the villa to others.
Wonderful Villa with Breathtaking Views
The villa is about an hour drive from Catania. We rented a car and were happy we did. The traffic is a little crazy around Catania but the closer you get to this property, the driving is easy. The property is located at the end of a small private driveway off the main road. It is easy to miss the first time but once you know where it is, it is better. We met the owner, Anna Maria who showed us around and gave us a quick orientation of the property. It is quite beautiful, with a large open deck on the second floor and a covered deck on the first. The rooms were large, clean, and well organized, all with great views. Everything was as described and we felt very safe in the property and surrounding area. Everything you need for your stay is here, even a few electrical adapters and cords. The washer is new and was nice to have so we just had carry-on luggage. There is a folding rack to dry the clothes in the hot Sicilian sun which is faster than any electric. The gardens around the house are beautiful with countless varieties of flowers and flowering cactus. The road is not very busy and most of the noise is from birds. The location is great for day trips to the city of Siracusa or Noto. There are stairs in the back that lead down to the ocean which is crystal clear and nice for swimming, diving and snorkeling. There are some poured areas where you can set up chairs or towels. The shore is also accessible by the public but during our stay we only saw a few people, who were nice, mostly on weekends. There is a beach club two properties away for families but it was silent during the week and fairly quiet during the weekends. The sunsets from the shore or back of the house are amazing. There are a couple small local pizzeria/ grocery stores within walking distance where you can get groceries, coffee, wine, gelato, pizza (take away or dine in) which saves a trip (and cost) of Siricusa. Couple tips: bring binoculars, water shoes, mask and snorkel (if you do that), and some insect repellant if you plan on sitting out at dusk. The Sicilian mosquitoes can get hungry! Overall, I would recommend Casa Costa!
We spent four delightful weeks in the villa. We had a couple of issues in the first couple of days that were handled very quickly by Annamaria, the lady who takes care of the villa. We just got back to our home in San Francisco - and we are ready to go back to Siracusa!
Beautiful villa, gorgeous views, well equipped, great hosts
Superbe emplacement et maison
Syracuse is noted for its rich Greek history, culture, amphitheatres, architecture and association to Archimedes, playing an important role in ancient times as one of the top powers of the Mediterranean world; it is over 2,700 years old. Syracuse is located in the south-east corner of the island of Sicily, right by the Gulf of Syracuse next to the Ionian Sea.
The city was founded by Ancient Greek Corinthians and became a very powerful city-state. Syracuse was allied with Sparta and Corinth, exerting influence over the entire Magna Grecia area of which it was the most important city. Once described by Cicero as 'the greatest Greek city and the most beautiful of them all', it later became part of the Roman Republic and Byzantine Empire. After this Palermo overtook it in importance, as the capital of the Kingdom of Sicily. In the modern day, the city is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Summer holidays south of the city of Syracuse focus firmly on beach and sea. Boasting creamy sands and translucent seas, it's got everything sunbathers and swimmers could want, including water sports and clear-watered coves for snorkelling. Noto, a magnificent little city famous for its stunning Baroque architecture, lies 20 kilometres away. You can’t miss the traditional afternoon stroll down its main street. Noto is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site 'Late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto'. Generally listed as one of the 'must-see' tourist attractions of this part of Sicily, Noto is a pleasant and attractive little town, with a historic centre that is composed almost entirely of crumbling Baroque palaces, churches and houses.
