About this property

Mountaintop Smart Home in Bozeman on 23 Acres Wildlife + 1.5 Hrs to YNP

Mind-blowing views from almost every room in this 3000 sq. ft. log home which overlooks five mountain ranges 23 and a half acre log home is secluded from neighbors atop the historic Bozeman pass. The home is perched above forested acres at approximately 6600 ft. At night, Livingston and Bozeman city lights can be enjoyed in the distance, but the absence of "light pollution" provides views of the Milky Way as if you were in the backcountry. Wildlife is abundant in Summer, Spring, and Fall when it's not uncommon to view moose, elk, and deer from one of the many windows inside the house. Don't be surprised to see the occasional black bear or mountain lion. 30 minutes from downtown Bozeman and Livingston and 90 minutes from Yellowstone National Park's West and North entrance's adds convenience when looping through the park.

Where mountains meet modernity, the home’s lighting system, thermostats, locks, outdoor wildlife cameras, entertainment system, and even the coffee maker can be controlled with voice commands on the Amazon echo devices located throughout the house. HomeKit compatible, your iPhone will allow guests to automate systems throughout the home. Wink display light switches are mounted on various walls which are linked to the homes automation systems. The entertainment system includes Apple TV, Fire TV, HBO, and Direct TV. Two Fire tablets and one iPad also allow guests to control devices Music can be played on one or all of the smart home speakers simultaneously. (Hue Lighting; heating; music; Amazon Echo and Dots).

Tastefully decorated, (and one of very few Montana vacation homes that are AIR CONDITIONED for those inevitable hot summer spells) the log home has three levels which includes a main level master ensuite with french doors leading to the hot tub, a second bedroom with a jack and jill bathroom, and a loft that sleeps up to six. Floor to ceiling windows, two stone fireplaces, game room and wrap around deck.

BEDROOMS AND BATHS: The master has a four-poster king size bed and its own private bathroom. The master bathroom includes a rustic stone walk-in shower equipped with rain shower head, his and her sinks and a separate water closet. Wake up facing french doors that frame the Bridger Mountains and open to a hot tub that seats six. An additional bedroom is furnished with a queen bed with its own private access to the main bathroom equipped with a stone tiled shower. The loft with stunning mountain views of the Bridger’s has two full beds and one set of twin bunk beds.

KITCHEN: The open concept kitchen with a beautiful Kitchen Aid gas range allows the chef to visit with family as they sit by the floor to ceiling stone fireplace and take in a 180 degree view of both Gallatin and Park county. Clean up after dinner in the copper farmhouse sink as you chat with family at the granite breakfast bar. Fully stocked with stainless steel appliances and everything you will need to prepare your meals.

DINING AREA: A rotunda shaped room, open to the dining room and kitchen, and surrounded by floor to ceiling windows overlooks five mountain ranges. Eat your breakfast as you watch the deer graze or see mama moose and her calf walk the many game trails below. There’s a dining table that will seat six-eight comfortably. Just a few feet away is the kitchen island with additional seating. There is also a wrap around deck off the dining room with a gas grill and outdoor seating to enjoy your meals and take in both the flora and the fauna.

LIVING ROOM: The living room has a gorgeous one of a kind stone fireplace and is surrounded by large windows that reach to 26 feet. You can sit and take in the views of the Big Montana skies or the amazing wildlife opportunities on the leather sectional couch and reclining chair. Relax to the perfect mood lighting with the state of the art home automation system. Say “play music” and customize the "Hue" wireless lighting system to fit any mood.

GAMEROOM: Surrounded by floor to ceiling windows, enjoy a game of pool while taking in the view, or relax with the second stone fireplace. Watch a movie, HBO, or one of DIRECTV's channels on the flat screen TV as you relax and play a game of cards. This large space has its own bathroom and access to the separate laundry room and another door leading to the meadows outside.

SETTING, ACREAGE, AND VIEWS: Located at approximately 6600 feet in elevation, you will be awe inspired at the views. Wildlife that frequents the property are both mule and white tail deer, moose, elk, black bear, fox, ermine, squirrels, chipmunk, golden eagles, mountain blue jays and so much more. Enjoy the private hiking trails, and tree house on the properties hillside, or take a short trek to the top of Center Hill located on the state land just behind the property and overlooking the Absaroka Mountains.

IMPORTANT--PLEASE READ: Weather conditions change quickly and can include high winds, snow, rain, ice and spectacular lighting storms during summer months. Travel to the home includes six miles of travel on a well maintained gravel road. 4x4 and snow tires/chains are required in winter months. Guests should further inquire about special considerations for winter reservations before booking.

OUTDOOR AMENITIES: There are two decks on this log home: a wrap around deck with views of the Madison, Bridger and Absaroka mountains and a beautiful meadow surrounded by pine. This deck has a new hot tub, gas grill, and table and lounge chairs. Accessible from the master bedroom, living and dining room. Best part is you are secluded from roads or next-door neighbors walking or driving by. The other deck is at the front of the property overlooking meadows along a game trail frequented by wildlife. The home has 10 outdoor infrared wireless camera's which record wildlife activity around the property. Notification of camera activation and viewing on your smart phone.

CLOSEST TOWN AND AIRPORT: About 16 miles (a thirty minute drive) to both Bozeman’s and Livingston’s Main Street and just a few miles more to Bozeman's Gallatin Field (about a 45 minute drive).

ACTIVITIES NEARBY:
Summer: Hiking, fishing, horseback riding, white-water rafting and all that Bozeman and Livingston have to offer. There is also great mountain biking or hiking right on the roads near the home or on the nearby State Land. Yellowstone Park is about an hour and a half from the home to the West and North entrances. Summit Sports will deliver ATV rentals to our front door. Bozeman's Smithsonian affiliated Museum of the Rockies boasts T-Rex skeletons and more.
Winter: Rent cross country skiis or put on our complimentary snow shoes and venture out the front door for a winter adventure. We are 19 miles from Bridger Bowl for some downhill fun! You can also ski "big" on Big Sky Ski Resort's 4,350 ft. of vertical slopes. Climb a frozen waterfall in Hyalite Canyon. Call Summit Sports and they will deliver snow mobiles to the front door!

Enjoy a 30% discount on the daily rate for stays of 7 nights and a 40% discount for stays of 28 nights.

I also rent cars (Tesla's, Suburban's and Subaru's) on Turo.com. All of my vehicles are equipped with snow tires during the winter months (the other rental car companies do have snow tires). Snow tires significantly improve tire traction and vehicle handling on snow and ice. I've include two links to the vehicles I rent on Turo and my Facebook page where you can view the most recent wildlife video’s.

Best host- best beds- best views!!
This was our first trip to Montana and the property was perfect. Art is an amazing host with the perfect amount of support and communication. He set us up with ideas of things to do, left wine and chocolates, s'mores for the kids and so much more! He had binoculars there, firewood staged at the fire pit, toys for the littles, movies, and the list goes on and on! We loved the beds- such a great comfort after long days outside. We enjoyed the hot tub (nice robes available). Sitting on the deck each morning and evening was our favorite! We spotted mule deer, fox, snowshoe rabbit, moose and baby, white tail deer, hummingbirds, owl and so on. The wildflowers all over the yard were a delight! We were a little sad to leave but wow what a great place to unwind and enjoy the outdoors! Thanks Art!

Great time with a wonderful view!
We very much enjoyed our stay at Art's home. He has been a formidable host and the house offered all that we could ask for. The views from the terrace are stunning and even better if enjoyed while sitting in the jacuzzi.

Just what we were looking for!
Like anyone else reading this, before we booked this trip we read review after review. All I could think was ‘how can the pictures not do it justice, they seem too good to be true’. But the reviews are spot on. The pictures are great but the reality is so much more. Once you are on the mountain, it’s like a birds view from their perch. The views are incredible. We booked to celebrate my birthday and wanted someplace we could just hang out, escape from having a schedule and hopefully catch some wildlife. That is exactly what you will find here! We woke up every morning to have coffee watching the deer, saw a moose on our first day and loved daily visits from the fox. We watched storms roll in and when the clouds cleared, saw more stars in the sky than I can remember seeing. The description about the drive up the mountain is correct. We decided that WHEN we go back, we will be back on property before dark. But during the day the location is perfect! Halfway between Bozeman and Livingston. Art was fantastic! As described, he meets you at the bottom of the mountain to guide you up and gives you a walk through of the house. The furniture is in great shape and beds comfortable. Note there are only 2 full baths and 2 bedrooms with doors. The upstairs is a loft. It didn’t bother us for what we needed but good to know if you have a need for 3 bedrooms and full baths. All to say we will be back and already looking at dates. I am afraid the more people find out about this place, the faster it will book. I almost want to keep it a secret but Art is too amazing not to do it justice. So if you want your shoulders to relax, breathe in some clean mountain air, and just enjoy nature. This is the place to book

Why they chose this property

We know what is available to rent in our area, and we can make one promise: you won't find a better view anywhere. With the exception of one bathroom and the laundry area, you will have a breathtaking view from EVERY ROOM. The home is surrounded with windows and there are no neighbors or roads in sight!
